For one: why are you going back to an ex? You have nothing to gain except sex; which you could easily get with a new girl with a fraction of the bs that comes with getting back with/plating an ex.

Two: why are you so willing to fall back to BP ideals? By giving your ex another shot, you are either setting yourself up to get pigeon-holed into a spot where she can get her revenge on you for ghosting her ass (which displays higher value and crushes her confidence so now she gets her shot to seek revenge and validating/ reassurance aka feeding the hamster), or you are seeking to keep her around for sex and to have fun. Either way, you’re giving her another shot, you look weak because it looks like you went out and tried the market, didn’t find success, and came crawling back with you tail between your legs, or you end up looking like a beta boy with a bad case of oneitis.

Also, when you ghost a chick, your SMV skyrockets because you display that you have options that are better than her, and that you have the self-respect and balls to actually act on it. When you leave, she can’t get revenge. It’s the ultimate trump card. Therefore, since you came back to her The shit tests she is throwing your way are to gauge whether you have improved your SMV since you and her broke up. If you display that you have made no progress (identical SMV as to when you were dating), you essentially hand over power to her because you have not flown out of her grasp and she knows how to manipulate you because it is the same formula as when you were together. It also validated her and reassured her that she was only imagining being inferior when you ghosted. However, If you have improved, she will panic, and her level of attraction towards you will increase because you are in fact superior in SMV, she cannot manipulate you, you contain a new element of unfamiliarity, and happen to be handling these tests like an alpha (more importantly a man with options). This will drive her nuts.

Either way, IMO and many others out there: getting back with an ex, no matter how RP aware you may be, edges too closely to BP idealism (particular the concept of oneitis), on top of the potential risks and negative consequences that are highly likely to occur, as mentioned above, to be worth the effort and time invested hoping for a potential positive outcome/result.
