This is so true. After 2 months of therapy I messaged certain people basically saying: “these are my boundaries. If you don’t like them, our relationship is over”

Most people stuck around, but after a few days they went back to trying to push the boundaries I set up. Then I told them I would be now blocking them and to kindly not contact me again.

I now feel like I should feel lonely, but I don’t. Being free of the drama and the expectations those people were putting on me were a burden and I didn’t even know it.

The funniest part is that I blame a woman, my mother, on creating these boundary problems. Even nowadays she still tries to push me to do stuff I don’t want to, then get upset because apparently my free will is an insult to her.

Only growth now. I am considering creating a post here about DEARMAN, which is the technique my therapist taught me to become more assertive and learn to speak my thoughts instead of quiet and cower behind the waves of going with the flow.

I love this and it’s so true! It’s especially helpful with friends, family, and coworkers...I’m done giving my positive energy to people who just suck it out of me.
