I am assuming the friend's wife and family would stay here too. When he passes, will they be moving out immediately? I would doubt that, and would suspect the usual woman fuckery to ensue (claiming she is legally allowed to stay, assault/rape accusations, etc,) Once a woman gets a foot in the door, your sovereignty ends.

Not an asshole, everyone gets to choose what happens in their home. But IMO the more brotherly and manly choice would be to assist the friend (though not become a servant of his whole family!)

However, a lot of ppl do freak out about death so saying no is understandable.

I would if he was like alone and no family around. So just him and nurses and I'll support him. But since his entire family is gonna move in to visit or stay daily it's an issue because I don't trust people. NTA but shouldn't be talking about house value just say you're emotionally unable to deal with that situation and have valuables or something and can't trust strangers.

That family is a shitty fuckin family and the commenters who called the OP the asshole are complete fucking retards. If I had a family member dying, the most I would ask my friends and acquaintances is financial assistance and make sure the dying person is at peace.

It doesn't even seem that the person asked the OP rather the family asked him for a favor. It's not an asshole thing, but a really strange and weird thing to do. Then, the denying to allow you into your best mate's funeral unless you let us all in your house to have your best mate die part confirmed that they're gigantic assholes who probably didn't have good intentions from the beginning.

Sucks that the OP and the OP's friend understand each other according to him, but everybody there is acting like a selfish asshat wanting to dump the dying man on someone else. If this is family, I want none of this bullshit.

almost had a roommate die in my apartment; he stopped breathing (ambulance came and took him away for a few days after i got him breathing again - he lost a few weeks of memory), saved his life, but fawk that was definitely not pleasant and would never want to be in a similar situation ever again.

no sane person would want any person, stranger or friend to die in their house, and his wife should take care of him till he dies; it's the very least that she can do.

or he should just blow a bunch of "HER" money lol. and go to a 5-star resort ect...the wife is the asshole in this case.
