My mom was a SAHM and threw trash everywhere, cooked dishes my father hated to spite him, sat on the couch watching TV constantly, and became a raging alcoholic. No way I’m paying someone to sit around the house.

Cleaning is easy. If you’re in the habit of just putting things away when you’re done with them, it should take three hours a week tops. Dishwashers and washing machines do the work for you and vacuuming and dusting are a breeze if there isn’t crap everywhere.

In the past women were housewifes because that was good for both lifes. Marry, have kids, take cares of the kids, support husbands needs at home for him to work and provide. Everything was fine.

Those are the actual smart ones. The husband works and simp for her while she sits back and enjoy riding shotgun, especially those purposely married and have a kid and not actually taking care of the kid (having nanny while it's her job by default) and then absolutely cannot cook. My neighbour's wife is one of these women. Daily three meals being delivered to doorstep everyday. My mom worked as a maid when I was growing up, so maintained multiple households. She did so while also taking care of her own household, raising two sons, and going to nursing school. I myself have lived alone, so I know how little work cooking/cleaning actually are.

I refuse to ever credit someone as ‘working’ if all they do is maintain one household (if that!).

A lot are. No doubt. If done correctly it would be very beneficial. Somebody to take care of the kids (especially when they are young) cook, clean, do laundry, ect. Especially if you have multiple kids it could offset the cost of childcare. Buttttt I would hope the wife would get a job by the time all the kids are in Jr. High & above. In my experience from what I seen in my life, many never return to the workforce. My mom did, but she is a uniform & my dad is very lucky.
