Make no mistake dogs do not unconditonally love you. Nothing does. If you were to hit your dog it would still have to love you but instead it would bite you and be likely very pissed off. This is why dogs become territorial in their early years if they are not treated and raised well.

Dogs love their owners because you feed and take care of them and in return they give you the greatest loyalty you can get because they respect you for that. They are pack animals afterall. But dont take that respect they have for you for granted. Their love is still conditonal just like human beings, which is what makes it special. They choose you as their owner rather than simply being born to unconditionally love.

Unconditional love doesnt exist. But thats a good thing because it makes everything that does respect you more important because there are limits how far it can go.

Dogs are a symbol and example of the noblest things in the human spirit. I will never again have a dog. Losing my 14 years old buddy almost killed me as well.
