It's a first meeting. This is not necessarily an indication of how he'll always act. You don't have to like him. You don't have to see him again. If you want a relationship, though, you do have to actually go on dates.

I wouldn't be so quick to write this guy off. Maybe he is just super laid back about things. Asking your preference doesn't automatically make him spineless, he could just be thoughtful. Plus it's just one date, what have you got to lose?

When a man asks for my opinion, I always give him my opinion. I learned this from trying to pick restaurants with my dad. He'd always ask me, "Where do you want to eat?", and even though I knew I wanted Mexican food, I said "I dunno, you pick!"

One time he got so frustrated at me that he snapped at me! I eventually learned that even if I truly don't have a preference, what he wanted was for me to make a decision. So in those cases I always narrow down choices for him - "I want to have Mexican or Italian food. Which sounds better to you?"

Remember, men today are conditioned by women to walk on eggshells around women. Don't blame him for not knowing how much authority to take on a 1st date! You're not in a relationship so you can't expect him to lead before you've established a commitment to each other.

He just wanted you to feel comfortable.

When you go on and online date it just a meet and greet the first time.

To confirm he looks like his pic, to make sure you don't have B.O., etc. Your second meeting will be the first date.

In the old days I knew the gal or her friends before I asked her out.

Why should he invest all this time and money if there is no mutual interest?

I would say just give it a try. Lot of people are not comfortable in online interactions and they are far more pleasant in real life. Which in my experience, those kind of people are the people I actually want to have relationship with.

Hate when men depend on me to plan things. Like they can just show up with their wallet and be good to go. These are the same men that I get bored with. Nothing changes. They then show up with their dick their hand same way every time and expect you to always be ready for sexy time. No challenge, no variation. You loose interest and they pour... barf.
