I think you could make that argument if the movie were targeted at teens or adults. But in kids movies adult relationships are generally watered down and portrayed as simply as possible because kids have zero interest in that. They basically needed an excuse to have Ice Cube star in a kids' road trip comedy and the plot was the best they could come up with apparently.

imo the biggest beta simps ever portrayed in modern TV were Brie's two husbands from desperate housewives

the first one was the literal definition of a beta, he almost divorced her bc he wanted her to dominate him and was basically her puppy until he died. the second one was less beta but he managed to be such a huge simp anyway that if i remember well, she ends up cucking him too

I’m pissing myself at this post I can’t believe AWTY isn’t a part of the red pill canon yet.

I haven’t seen the movie in forever bc I’m an adult or whatever, but he’s just a person that she met after divorce. I feel like “second option” or choice implies that he was a backup plan that she was aware of while she was married. Most women have sex with more than one man and tons of ppl get divorced, so she just seems normal?

Anyways, he just seemed horny. Not even much of a provider, since she was hot and was doing better than him. She probably just liked him for his personality. Simp as a term is cringe af imo, but I guess there was some simpery afoot. Alpha/Beta terminology is ultimately meaningless but 10/10 post anyways.

imo its just bad comedy tropes that people with no taste or any depth find funny.
the emasculated man, the dumb blonde, kids who hate the step dad... its cheap comedy.

i think in general people have a hard time watching other people thrive or have a good life. we feel like we suffer so whoever doesnt has to have earned it. i dont know any movie that doesnt have a heartbreaking story for the main character, imo that makes it easier to root for them.

maybe its not a conscious way to beta-ize him rather a really easy character arch, considering the bar is so fucking low. the story tells itself, "pathetic man goes through hardship and emerges victorious"

the rest of the shenanigans in that movie kinda depend on the premise that hes only interested in fucking so he´ll take whatever to get the pussy or maybe he was just stuck with them? like i cant imagine anyone as cold as to leave them two kids and be like fuck them fuck this hoe, no matter how "alpha" you want him to be, idk if the movie explained a reason why he couldnt just say no in the end, dont remember but also, what kinda mom just gives a random nigga her kids and tells him take them to vancouver,
