Periodically you're going to hear "so and so died in a drunk car crash" and you'll feel badly, then you'll find out that there was alcohol/drugs involved and not feel as bad.

Eh. The sooner you move on the better. See how long you can live at home rent free and get a job, any job and save save save. When your parents want to kick you out, ask if you can pay rent instead and continue to save save save.

If you can get 10-20k you can get a mortgage. If the house has lots of rooms, rent to your close friends and pay off the house for cheap. Otherwise get a small ass house that you can pay for each month yourself.

^what I wish I would've done post high school. I had no idea how easy it was to buy a house. All you have to do is save your tax forms, and prove income reliably. Never be without a job for more than a month. Also, get a credit card, use it for everything, and just pay it off constantly. Sooner you do this the better.

I was friends every group but closest with the "popular" people in high school. We're all about 22ish now and they've all clearly peaked in HS. They dont have jobs, theyre fake, they get fucked up almost every day, a lot of them are in toxic relationships, a lot of them got very usless degrees or just dropped out to become sound cloud rappers (nothing wrong with chasing you dreams) its interesting to me seeing how theyre doing. i see them occasionally at the gym and we catch up now that theyre done with college but i dont associate with them.

Some of them are doing great and are awesome but they weren't the popular kids in HS.

Popular guy from my school who was a class A douchebag bully thought he was the shit and looked down on everyone. Died of a heroin overdose in a shitty apartment after a life of complete failure.

High School does not translate to actual life.

These guys used to mock me in high school while they had girls left and right. Now, I saw all of them working as waiters from one restaurant to another, while I am working as a software engineer for a tech company doing contract work for NASA.

Most popular people I went to school with went on to get 5-9 jobs and go to the pub and sit around telling “ remember when..” stories once a week. Some became real go getters and got great jobs and had families. Some got drug & alcohol problems. Some are in jail or dead. You never know what’s going to happen eh. Chances are you might stay in contact for another year after high school and catch up and party with some people then everyone will slowly become distant memories. That’s life mate.

Either they died (typically from overdose,) suffered an accident, gained weight, moved out of town, married very young (you know where I'm going with this), or work at best buy, or some other b.s. outlet.

Basically, they damn near all peaked in highschool.

Boy am I jealous of you asking this question at your ripe young age. When I was your age I always chased women, had exes, you get it. But now I'm working on myself I realize none of that popular bullshit even matters. If you find a job that is competitive then being popular might still matter tho.

I don't kiss ass so I was not 'popular' at my old jobs, I just treated other employees with respect even if they're cooks, housekeeping, or people making $100k/year. If you present yourself well more doors will open for you.

The popular kids from my class are nowhere now. One a pro football player is now crippled with the damage from that time. Ones on the local radio station, and one is a doctor. I keep in touch with 2, online only. The worst thing that can happen is to be the cool kids in HS. They peak at 17 and never recover.

As has been said before, a month after graduation youll never hear from any of them and thats not a real loss.

Focus on you, and you alone. Whatever your goals are, write them down and work on them daily. Never let some girl ever distract you from your objectives. One thing that worked well for me was to listen to the older guys in the jobs I wanted. They were more than willing to teach me the stuff that they learned over their careers.

Save some money, and keep up that habit. Compound interest is the magic of youth. If your future employer has a retirement program, put all you can into it.

I was popular first two years since I played a sport, then after a couple injuries dropped it. Suddenly I was no longer invited to people's house parties and ended up focusing on studies.

A good percentage of them work pretty dead end jobs because they didn't apply themselves after HS. There's one or two who were popular who ended up dentist or doctors and most of the girls I lusted after are not attractive at all.

Most important thing in life is really to not worry about what other people do, instead focus on yourself and what brings you some semblance of happiness. Easier said then done and you'll constantly be striving towards that goal.

You'll start seeing them fall in line one by one into the traditional marriage, kids, and job routine. And they'll post about it on facebook with big smiles on their faces, competing with everybody else doing the same thing. It will really let you know who they were all along.

Most of these people marry early,have children and follow traditional default way of life this being in here and follow herarchical instinct to compete with others and being miserable go into addictions of course if you meet them in reunions will try to impress you with bullshit like on social media.

I know one is being offered air force scholarship to study at Cambridge. He is being fast tracked to become brigadier General of Air force in 20yrs time
