I need some support and guidance, ladies. My ex and I are working for the same company. Thankfully, in different departments, and we haven’t seen each other that often. But we’ve just moved to another building and he is now sitting in the same room with me. He’s also really good friends with my boss.

We broke up two months ago now, and I’ve mostly healed. Found this amazing community, going to therapy, joined salsa class, volunteering program and really focusing on my mental health, self-esteem and building my queenfidence. I deleted him from all social media and we haven’t spoken at all since the breakup. And today I’ve heard my boss and my ex talking about something that really sounded like they were discussing me and my recent mistake that I’ve made with one of my clients. They were laughing and mentioned my client’s name a few times and it made me super uncomfortable. I’m not 💯 sure I was the topic of that conversation but it did sound like my boss was basically sharing how I messed up and hahaha.

I got really upset. Firstly, because that’d mean that my ex probably shared some personal info with my boss which is just not okay. Secondly, it wasn’t done in a respectful way, otherwise they wouldn’t be laughing. Thirdly, this person has zero reasons to hate me so much - I didn’t do anything to deserve this. Well, I did demonstrate some pickme behavior, but nothing that would imply I deserve to be disrespected. It’s just so disgusting - to see someone treat you like that. I’m not in love with my job, but I’ve put a lot into where I am right now and I’m not ready to quit. But I hate this whole situation and I feel helpless, cause I don’t know how to handle this. I hate seeing him at work every day. I hate that I can’t tell him he’s being a dick. Same goes for my boss. I’m angry that I’d probably have to leave cause I don’t want to be a scapegoat and feel like/think that my boss disrespects me. And I hate that people like my ex get to win.

Would really appreciate ideas on how to retain my self-respect, self-esteem, peace of mind and emotional balance in this mess of a situation?
