As far as I know marriage was created 10000 years ago in the agricultural revolution as a way to pass down land and property. Before that men and women were preaty equal. The myth that males were hunters and females were gathered is disproved by multiple anthropologist by sites where were found hunting parties of mixed males and females (same goes for the gatherer parties). It is believed that neither men or women needed each other for sex or protection because both were members of the tribe and were protected and cared for by the tribe. The probleme was that children were also considered children of the tribe and had multiple maternal and paternal figures and (aside from the mother) nobody knew who's was the child. Marriage was invented as the nucleus of the family.

Of course man benefit from marriage the most and leech off of women. Of course when they do it they’re called stand up men for giving up the bachelor lifestyle. But when a woman wants a man to take care of her she’s called a Golddigger and deserves to be a social outcast and whatever horrible things that happened to her. Don’t believe me? When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer or any terminal disease one of the first things that happens to her is that she’s canceled on account of how her husband may leave her.

I'm sorry I may have posted one page twice. Either way, I really recommend this book to anyone curious who likes history.

There are so many myths busted in this book. Most ideas we have about marriage, relationships and sex only reflect the 1950s and not the larger picture of how things were.

I feel FDS is like that folk tale, we get to choose our mates but our life is just as fine without them.

I found these interesting to read side by side because I was just reading something about how cave paintings were found to be made by women, based on analyzing hand prints they found the middle fingers were longer which is characteristic of women's hands. So men didn't even make the paintings and art they mentioned.

This reminds me of most religion. It's so obvious that it was created by men. It's women that build the bodies of infants, gestate and carry and bleed for them. Saying God made us and is male is the first step to tuning the rest of it out.
