I don’t understand how women can twist their mouths to say anything about first and second wave feminism. As a black woman, I certainly recognize how much of it was problematic. But without feminism we wouldn’t have the ability to own property, have our own bank accounts and sign our own leases or mortgages, to have our own credit cards.

This is precisely why I moved out after college despite my parents refusals. I hated living with them. My Aunty kept telling me I'll move out when I get married, an elder at church said if I move out men will think I'm wayward lol. I signed a lease, furnished my place and told them that I was leaving. I'm forever done with asking for permission to live my life as I like.
