I want to get a business going but it’s going to be hard to do on that level of income, and I would like to make more money

Don't put blocks in your mind that don't really exist. I started my tech business (at 22) with 30K in debt to the bank (not having any profit or a day job for 1.5 years).

Set personal goals! For example: "I want to make 150K per year" then start asking questions and make an ACTIONABLE plan with monthly goals:

- What work can bring me 150k per year? - research, read, ask people working this job, ask for advice (they'll be more than happy), ask for resources for you to start learning, etc.

- Do I need to learn something completely new to start that job that will pay me 150k?

- How much time it will take me to learn new things? - 3 times per week for 6 months? - OK, I need to organize my days better to find the time.

If you haven't check Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins, Start with Why and Find you Why, it might be a good start.

the median personal full-time income in USA is $35,977

that includes old people too, with lots of experience

so, you're well above most

I’m 24 making about 65k in finance but I’ve been thinking about going back to school for computer programming. It’s a pretty lucrative field with a ton of WFH jobs. Considering that or starting an online business.

You need to clear things up in your head first before deciding on tangible actions.

Right now, it would be productive enough to just plant some seeds in your heads and be open for an opportunity to present itself. Example: just watch some YouTube videos on what it actually takes to start and run a business. Then maybe the next day look up what the highest paid "side hustles" are for 2021.

Maybe you find out that starting a YouTube channel pays well, but you've never thought about making videos.

Then later on you start a random conversation with a stranger because Chad's talk to everyone and you find out they make 6 figures making YouTube videos. You pick their brain for a few and voila, you naturally develop a new purpose and passion.

I have a habit of making long comments so just hmu if you're interested in me sharing my mission.

If you don't like that your career has a low income, it's time to find a new career. Don't settle for less. Community college is super cheap and it's a good way to get college credits you can transfer to a 4-year uni and get your degree. I'd probably start there.

grill/smoke

game

gardening and building an orchard

cycle

it eats up most of my spare time in the nice months..... just more of a struggle in the winter here.........

being single the last almost year has been good for my $$$$ and physical although i miss pussy...... can b tough to catch it in the wild at 46 in a small town while introverted

you don't want another job. if you can make solid base at your job, think of an outside business that leverages what you know/what you're good at now, and make a side gig.

see anything at work and thought: "that's dumb, i would do it like..." one of those ideas. don't take it to your boss at work, you have no equity there. instead work on it outside of company time and at home, make this idea a good one, patent it, then license it out for an annuity type of income.
