I read a post on reddit a week ago from some guy who was saying that he started writing self-published romance novels on Amazon for a few years and managed to make over $500,000 doing it. Shit was pretty crazy, I knew romance novels were a thing but I didn't know how lucrative the whole business was. Everyone's heard of Twilight and 50 Shades but there's a gigantic industry of literature beyond these two mainstream titles that I was completely oblivious to. I ended up reading more into this and it's pretty crazy, the best selling stuff is pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to be, books with covers showcasing fit, muscular men with titles and blurbs about girls getting romantically involved with alpha males. It's not just this stuff though, there's also a huge market for weirder shit, like aliens, werewolves, vampires, bear and dragon shifters, orcs, demons, even dinosaurs and bigfoot. There's one book called "Bear" by Marian Engel about a woman living on an island and having sex with a bear. A lot of more typical things are found though for less weird shit like books about single dads, bdsm, billionaires, reverse harems (fuckin' lol), and gay men.

Question is, who tf is reading all of this shit? Is this just for ugly fat beta girls who can't manage to actually fuck hot guys or am I overthinking this? I only personally know of one girl who has admitted to reading romance novels and she was a nerdy girl, the ones that are hot party girls don't really read books. Anyone here know girls that read romance novels?
