If I'm dating or spinning plates, I think it looks cheap.

Once I'm in an LTR, they already KNOW I'm cheap, so it's less important. In fact, I'm married, and my wife is all about the "free food." The less we spend at the restaurant, the sooner our next vacation comes.

Who cares. Frame it correctly or do not, that is the real difference. If you must go to dinner at a specific place because you have a coupon it will most likely come off as cheap.

If you confidently say "Why don't we go to XOX, I have a coupon there and i hear people raving about their chicken tendies." You could totally pull it off.

Plates must be maintained with image, so coupons look cheap to them. LTRs into wasting money should not be LTRs.

The issue isn't coupons, the issue is that you go to a place that uses coupons.

My go to place is an upscale hipster pizza joint/bar. We sit at the bar, I order a beer, she orders her own drink, if we like each other we split one of their $9 pizzas and get another drink. This place has a cool atmosphere, good drinks, and awesome pizza and works great for a first date. Girls always love it, the pizza is light and no one is bothered by waiters, specials, reading a menu, or paying a bill.

You're not impressing any girls taking her to an Applebee's and no girl will like the formality of it anyway. Coupons are usually not even a good deal most of the time.

There are many options man. Checking an app on the spot and "hey, there are cupons for here" and buying on spot and getting a "membership" at a discount club (it's a thing here for restaurants), among others.

The first one sounds smart, the second one actually seems to raise my status, "he goes out enough to BUY a membership" or some shit like that.

It's fine, just don't be a puss about it. "Sweet, my favorite restaurant has a BOGO tonight!" not "I was searching the internet for coupons last night and found this shitty place that is offering coupons. This will really help me stretch my food stamps this week."
