Almost not much you can do bar going abstinent - loads of people may have it but not know they have it until they have an outbreak. If it helps, a constant dosage of Lysine (1000mg/day) will help barricade against it and is helpful if yku do have it to lessen it appearing, and theres other things/techniques too. However, as frustrating as it is, and with all the stigma around it, it (can be boiled down to) a pesky contagious skin viral condition that just doesn't go away and rears its ugly head at random episodes; but doesn't have to take over and ruin your life.

The best thing to do is to vet out women with a low n-count. I have a fairly high n-count and I haven't contracted it, because I'm very specific to what types of women I sleep with, and I stick to younger (20's) women. Older women are at a higher risk for having herpes.

Also, I am in a LTR right now so that helps.

The sad part is even if the woman you sleep with has it, she'll most likely not tell you about it and pretend she didn't know.

Really the only solution is celibacy and since we don't want that, to sleep with younger girls, and girls with low n-count.

I'm curious to know if most people that have it and know that they do, generally tell their partners before they're about to sleep with them.

Celibacy is the only way to completely avoid STD's. Period. AFter that, a monogamous relationship with someone who has had NO other partners. Then condoms and don't bang skanks.
