How about The Godfather, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street?

Just kidding......... they always make money the root of all evil. Women are actually the root of all evil. Money just exaggerates a man's personality. If a man is happy broke, he will be even happier with money and the freedom it brings.

And there are no Hollywood films about that. They all are about the bullshit. It's a vicious circle of selling fairy tales. A host can only be happy with parasites, the more the merrier!

"The Big Bet" movie seemed to be fine with seeking money. "Wolf of Wall Street" tried to portray that kind of life as wrong, but failed miserably. More or less it showed how good it was to be rich with little consequences (just like real life, no?)

Can't recall another one for the moment.

In dramas and rom-coms produced by big studios, protagonists will typically end up prioritizing relationships over other pursuits. This is what the majority of the viewing public wants. And since big studios aren't in the business of taking risks, this is what they provide.

I don't blame 'em. If I ran Universal, Warner, or Columbia, that's what I'd do, too. I'd produce bankable stories. My shareholders would want bankable stories. If I failed to deliver, I'd get fired.

There are exceptions (e.g. Revolutionary Road), especially outside dramas and rom-coms. Even in these two genres, though, smaller studios are more willing to break tropes. They have less to lose and more to gain by standing apart from the crowd.

Can't help you there. The best I can do is get you some movies which are brutal red pills when you think about it that will just demoralize you further.
However I can make you a counter offer.
What would that movie look like? What's the plot? What's the sexy hook that gets someone to greenlight it? What does that question mean to you?

I would say Limitless kinda falls into this category. Guy becomes a supergenius and ends up basically destroying his personal life for the sake of gaining the money and power to make the world a better place.
