Paddleboarding - hvm suggestion for first date or glorified walk date?

It’s not in the handbook :) He has to come over in his boat from an island to meet me and suggested bringing his inflatable paddleboards on the boat. I’m going to suggest lunch (venues opening for outside eating this weekend) because the weather and water is freezing here and also not safe for first date as he cld plan to meet me in an isolated place to do it and murder me 😯 Any fds thoughts on paddleboarding lvm or not - there’s no outlay for him so is it a glorified walk date? Any thoughts gratefully received?

Edit: Thx for all your comments. Here are some of my FDS takeaways (sorry about essay) from this situation and the outcome. Short version: I will always suggest lunch upgrade from now on, but FDS rule proved right on this occasion - even if you can hog wrestle a guy into offering a more hvm date, deep down he is lvm for offering shite date and his low effort will show in other ways.

So he was happy to accommodate my request for lunch and booked nice restaurant in the marina. I thought ‘yay - FDS Success!’ I will always suggest upgrade to lunch from now on with future coffee/walk/boat ride/paddleboarding date offers. I’ll say ‘I’d rather go somewhere for a nice lunch’ sweetly and listen to their reply. Zero to lose.

Prior to the date he didn’t contact me for 2 days (his normal pattern had been txting me every day for 3 weeks) then on morning of date called me to say what was happening. This made me feel pretty anxious (godammit attachment system!) therefore I should have blocked/deleted at that point.. but I didn’t.

He was half an hour late (tides, speed limits, yadda yadda). Disappointing.

He txted me encouragingly for a few days after date, went away on business then radio silence for a week. My anxiety really increased. My gut was telling me he was a bit of a player. For once I listened to my gut and honoured it by giving him a week then blocking him and moving on. Unfortunately I really fancied him and we had one of those perfect first dates where you don’t stop laughing, chatting, flirting and have loads in common but he is very charming (my past pickme type) and I’m learning to see the charm as an action/choice to manipulate rather than a character trait that I should go for. Charm is surface. ALL my exes could charm the skin off a snake.

Thanks girls - my guard was up after all your comments so after a week of not hearing from him I blocked and deleted. Pre FDS I would have hung around waiting for him to get back in touch but this way I can now focus my ‘nervous’ energy on other more positive stuff in my life.
