We have evidence that women systemically make less money than men, and that having children widens the gap. Given the disparity, and the liability added by pregnancy/childbirth, isn't it understandable that women would seek men who earn more than them? It seems to be a sticking point for men in this sub.

From my personal perspective as a woman, earnings are important in a partner. I've had a successful career and enjoy a lifestyle that isn't cheap. I'm not talking lavish vacations and designer bags (not that it was be a problem if I did, it's my money after all). But more so, I love to travel, have hobbies (my preferred method of fitness runs around $40 USD per class), buy a lot of books, will pay more for items that are good quality and last longer, have a nice apartment, etc.

I've gotten responses in this sub that imply that I'm somehow wrong for factoring in a person's earnings when evaluating them as a partner. Any potential partner who is trying to be with me isn't competing with other men, they're competing with my solitude. I'm not interested in dating someone who can't afford to come adventure with me.
