Everything that gets gender swapped or throws Men under the bus becomes a flop. I mean who on earth would watch wonderman or he-ra? Let hollywood burn thru their money, it employs people after all. When i used to live in Los Angeles, i was chatting to a girl that used to work in the movie industry and back then she told me that everyone knew the female ghostbusters was going to be a flop and that was like two years before it’s release.

You could also add Incredibles 2, where the main characters are clearly Elastigirl and the female villain - while the males are all depicted as incompetent ( Mr Fantastic, the businessman ) and/or immature.

Yes, there's clearly a feminist agenda in Hollywood, but I dunno where this will go. I'm all for equality between men and women, and this does not look like it.

Duuuude, relax. Doctor Who is an alien with two hearts. A Timelord whose very existence is the lynchpin of the universe's continued flow into entropy. So what if now this fictional character whose continual regeneration is one of his/her more intriguing features is now a woman?

A dickless Doctor Who is still Doctor Who cause Doctor Who is an ideal of moral virtue. The Doctor is the most powerful being in the universe with the most powerful piece of technology ever fathomed... and all he/she does is help. That's all the show is about. A figurative messiah come down to show us that doing the right thing is the easiest thing to do if you have a screwdriver and a smile as all hell breaks loose.

Dr Who always has strong female characters: Romana, Sarah Jane, Nyssa, Rose, Donna, River Song, Astrid,...

and they’ve always been more liberal, it IS BBC of course.

Canon indicates the Dr gets younger with each regeneration: and with 12 it got wonky and 13 wasn’t supposed to happen at all, ergo, the rift in the storyline.

what grinds them, now, is purely gender based and it has definitely taken a turn.

I’m sitting in willful suspension of belief while i’m watching anyway, but I won’t swallow their messaging and may turn it off for that.

What I do mind is the throwing ethnic minorities in it just for the sake of it.

In the rosa episode they mentioned that in the UK she wouldn't have been able to be in the police, yet, in 1947 we had black police and in 1915 we had women police. Trying to equate the racial problems in the USA with the problems in the UK is horseshit because we never did and still don't have the levels or types of racism they have in the USA

Each group has their separate identity but they are all British

In America

In America, nationality is based on race

In the UK, nationality is based on your passport

Writers might want to appeal to a wider audience. There is a growing awareness that women too consume SF media, and the target audience is not confined to dudes. They're going to lose some audience, but they also lose some audience by even having non-white protagonists. But if this sub starts getting overrun by people complaining about "white genocide," I'm out.

But I have the power to just not watch media that doesn't interest me, whether because I think the message is too heavy-handed, or the story just doesn't move me. But a female protagonist isn't going to kill it for me.

I don’t really see why you’re so annoyed about it - the doctor regenerates and takes multiple different forms. And, to her credit, she’s a fantastic actress. You can argue she’s been shoehorned in to tick a box but she’s one of the better pics they’ve made easily
