So, this happened to me and it's been confusing. I think I'm friends with my ex now?
We've been co-parenting for years while separated and the beginning was tough (I left), and pretty much everything in between tbh. But, at some point this year, during the drama of the pandemic and the election and the nightmares that come with parenting during these times while working from home, something sorta clicked. I think we bonded in our misery and admired our collaborative efforts.
It's been a few months now, we usually text every day. Often send pics back and forth. Funny parenting memes. Discuss politics. Making plans and schedules has become pretty routine and we're both very thoughtful of the others social life (both of us have been dating people for some time now). And our kid even seems happier.
We were trying to divide thanksgiving and christmas like we normally do, but factoring in the lockdown and spikes, along with the ages and immune systems of our parents, we decided to stay put and just spend the holidays just the 3 of us.
I still don't know if this is some ploy to get back together, or she's grateful for the (excessive) financial contribution that I make to their quality of life, or maybe she's just tired of being angry. The first few years were hellish, there was no love lost in that time and we both said some shitty things.
Not sure what will come, this is all very new. But I just wanted to share. This sub has been helpful for me through some tough times.
Happy holidays y'all.
