Georgia. Married 3.5 years. One daughter - 2.

We recently decided divorce was the best option, although nothing has been filed. I’ve (36M) spoken to a few attorneys. Retained none but I’ve made my decision on which one.

The decision to divorce came a little less than a week ago. She demanded I leave the house and said if I didn’t I would make my daughter homeless since she couldn’t live under the same roof as me, and called me a POS. I haven’t moved out but I’ve decided to go stay with a friend for a few days for some space.

My STBX is in class on most weekends, and for months I’ve spent the weekends with my daughter (2F) at home while she went to class. This weekend was no different except she has flown her mother in to be here for a few weeks.

When I showed up, they immediately told me I am not to be in a room with her with the door closed - or they would call the police. They said I am not to leave the house with her or her mom would immediately call the police. Legally, I know this is BS - but I’m wondering how I navigate this and if there’s something I’m missing. I haven’t been served with anything.

I really want to remain peaceful throughout this, but it’s obviously going to be difficult.

Should I just go ahead and file and get it over with, or do I remain peaceful in an attempt to take the high road?

Help.

EDIT: Well, mother in law called the cops. She kept tough talking me in my own house so I just remained calm and said I wasn’t going anywhere, and the rules they set were unreasonable.

Cops showed up. I was sitting at the table twiddling my thumbs. They said Women watch too many movies and left.
