When you move out and leave your kids with the soon be ex, you are telling the court that you are ok with them being the primary care giver.

Also, when you move out and establish a new 'home' or location. You are telling the court that you are better able to find a new home and that your ex should get custody of the house.

This is why so many men lose their homes in divorce and end up only seeing their kids on the weekends while paying thousands in support

The real question is, why would you even consider moving out?

Why have men been conditioned to think that we can provide a massive majority of the household finances, perform a massive majority of the upkeep tasks for the structure, outlay a massive majority of the cost to maintain the grounds, the exterior surfaces, the appliances... and that we're the ones that are expected to leave?

The double-fuck-you to men is that as soon as you move out, that is the historical justification (however irrelevant or tangential the evidence of any wrongdoing) for assigning exclusive rights to the woman for the marital home.

That's why. Because it's your fucking house.

Don't move out before there's an agreement in place that you are 100% comfortable with.

Moving out is the #1 mistake men make in divorce.

Moving out is a fatal mistake because it removes any leverage you have. Divorce is about incentives. If you move out, you'll be paying your STBX child support, spousal support and paying for the bills you've always been paying (like utilities and the mortgage). At that point, your STBX has everything she wants (kids stay with the marital residence) and has no reason to settle with you. This is on top of the rent/utilities you'll be paying for your own place. So you'll be in this limbo nightmare for years wondering when the pain is going to end. It ends when you run out of money, and you reluctantly accept whatever shitty offer opposing counsel sends you just to be done and "move on".

Before you respond saying there's no way that you could do an in-home separation for a year or more, realize that many men do exactly that (I was one of them). Staying in the marital residence easily saved me $20k, and I was able to finalize my divorce within nine months of serving her.

TLDR: Always be closing.
