Why let the Constitution stand in the way of good ol' mob justice, right?

Of course, you know what type of people that puts you in the company of, right?

People who say these things seriously, and try to change laws, are why I don't think it's ridiculous when there are people saying society is collapsing (like for real, not just that it's degrading).

[–]Hansjg05 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

According to MIT we’re right on schedule for complete global collapse

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to REM, I feel fine about that.

[–]T0X1C_1C3CR34M 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is fucking illegal

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While I agree that female students have a legal right to rape and sexually harass with impunity, it is not "due process" that gives it to them. Due process is a good thing.

At least she testified that she would uphold DeVos' regulation.

She's still a complete idiot for doubling down on what she said, but if she doesn't do material damage, that's probably the best we can ask for at the moment.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How can you trust her with that attitude?

[–]TheNerdWonder 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She just said that to get confirmed. A lot of people say whatever to get the gig. Ask William Barr.

[–]UnconventionalXY 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Isn't it time all education was taken online where it can not only be conducted with greater efficiency and at an individuals own pace, but where close contact between the sexes is more physically limited and communication better controlled?

[–]TheNerdWonder 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You'd be surprised how people can still accuse you if things with that. I had it happen awhile ago and yes, the accuser was a feminist.

Sexual assault on campus is a real problem. But it's often being reported with minimal proof and you can only do so much with minimal proof.

So the nature of sexual assault rarely leaving evidence, being behind closed doors, and being something women don't often want to report is what leads to the heightened levels of assault on campus.

I don't think it has anything to do with the laws in place.

https://www.rainn.org/statistics/campus-sexual-violence

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

RAINN, where every accusation is treated as a real rape, and they only treat accusations proven false as false accusations.

Also, where you can find out (inadvertently on their part) that only 2.17% of reported rape accusations are proven to be true accusations...

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Because non consent is such a difficult thing to prove. I dont think i understand the point you are making. That sexual assault is uncommon on campuses and rainn just pretends its more common?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I understand the point completely.

Between 4-10% of reported rape accusations are proven false.

2.17% of reported rape accusations are proven true.

What does that leave the rest? True? False? Neither? Both?

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Unknown. Obviously.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right, so what we do know is that more accusations are proven false than true.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So the nature of sexual harassment rarely leaving evidence, being behind closed doors, and being something women don't often want to report is what leads to the heightened levels of assault on campus.

Sexual assault and sexual harassment are very different things. Based on context I'm assuming you meant sexual assault in both instances.

I take issue with the assertion that sexual assault against a female rarely leaves evidence. In fact, a successful sexual assault would put DNA evidence in the victim's possession 100% of the time.

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I did mean sexual assault and I edited it. Thanks.

You think that every woman that claims she was raped with seminal fluid in her has evidence that it was non consensual sex?

That obviously isn't true.

Moreover, you can sexually assault someone without ejaculating in them. Obviously.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You think that every woman that claims she was raped with seminal fluid in her has evidence that it was non consensual sex?

Do you think ever man who accuses a woman of lying about rape has evidence she's lying?

That's obviously not true, but let's treat them like they are lying and expel them on the man's word and nothing else?

Oh? That would be an injustice you say?

Of course it would...which is why both the accuser and the accused deserve due process.

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. Which is why I told someone they were wrong for saying DNA evidence is proof of sex assault. Because that DNA evidence does not prove lack of consent.

I'm defending men here so I don't see why you're being so combative.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Debate about consent has nothing to do with evidence.

There is never going to be evidence of non-consent in any crime.

For example, if someone steals $75 out of my wallet, I am not going to have evidence that I didn't just give it to them. We have to rely on common sense and social customs to make that small portion of the determination.

But that is really just one small part of the overall difficulty involved in solving and prosecuting most crimes. The hard part with other crimes is figuring out who exactly did it. When? Did the reported occurrence even occur? How can we prove even the basic facts?

Take the missing $75. I actually had police ask if I memorized the serial numbers on the stolen bills after someone broke into my apartment and I was lucky enough to catch them red-handed. Because how else can we begin to prove that this $75 is even your $75?And again, the only reason we even had a suspect in that case was because I was lucky enough to observe the break-in.

This isn't true with sexual assault and modern forensics. Relative to other crimes, the cases are becoming extremely easy to solve. We know who the suspect is, we know (or should be able to know) with a high degree of accuracy whether or not sex occurred between the suspect and accuser at or around the time the accuser is claiming it happened.

Which is why it has turned into a debate about consent and police bias. The obvious explanation of the remaining gap between reported sexual assaults and convictions is a high number of false reports. But if you are a false reporting denialist, arguing widespread misunderstanding about consent, or blatant police bias, is the only real wiggle room left for debate.

real problem

What does this mean?

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That too many people are sexually assaulted on campuses.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That is an emotional statement, and not a quantitative statement.

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure you would like there to be less sexual assaults on campus too. Which means you also think there are too many.

I think everyone agrees that it's too many.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I also would like there to be less false accusations on campus... Which means I also think there are too many false accusations.

Let's remove due process for EVERYONE!

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Let's not. Due process is a cornerstone of justice.

[–]Halafax 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except when it is inconvenient for feminists, then it doesn’t matter.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Considering you support a movement that continuously tries to remove that cornerstone for men, that's fairly hypocritical.

[–]ThisIsTheEnd6 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't support feminism. Not everyone that disagrees with you is immediately a feminist.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Go lie to someone else.

And you know... if you feel you have to lie about your ideology to discuss it with it's victims...maybe that's a sign you should leave it....
