You have only lost one battle, not the war.

The Supreme Court has simply deferred involvement to Congress to consider the matter. It is possible Congress might require registration of men and women for Selective Service and feminists can hardly argue against that if they truly are about equality.

However, what I find disturbing is that so many laws are still discretely binary gendered when the reality is that humanity is diverse and can not be completely shoehorned into those discrete gendered forms, creating loopholes. The trick is not to patch loopholes but to draft laws that are non-gendered in the first place. Civilisation is about human rights: perhaps we should start acting that way instead of creating rights for separate categories and trying to make those rights equal when they never can be until they are human rights.

I don’t understand why you even should be being registered for a conscription that doesn’t exist. Surely they can just use your ssn if they need to do conscription.

In the netherland your registered automaticly, at 17 got a letter in the mail, incase domestic war breaks out we might call on you. I'm 35 now haven't from them. My dads generation and gen x after that had to go through mandatory training.

But other day on of my coworkers daughter got a similar letter in the mail. So atleasr its a bit more fair now.

Nobody should be crying about this.

The opinion statement clearly says they don’t want to weigh in on matters of national defense if congress is currently deliberating the same thing.

I don’t agree with that assessment, but it’s far from “we just lost, let’s start the pity party”.

In the US when you register to vote at 18 you are automatically enrolled for selective service. When I turned 18, that day I went to selective service online and immediately enrolled myself just to be safe. I'm 27 currently and haven't even gotten a letter.
