I always kind of questioned the BLM movement largely because it’s really only black men that are being killed by police at high rates. As a white male, you’re much more likely on a per encounter basis to be killed by a police officer than a black woman. Yet that would make it a men’s rights movement and society doesn’t like those.

Many tax payer funded domestic violence shelters exist in the US, but none accept men. They even turn down boys older than 12 (children brought by abused mothers). Even though studies show men experience near as much domestic violence as women.

One of the reasons I avoid paying taxes as much as possible.

If the state of my country considers my kind less important then I consider the state less deserving of my work.

The National Coalition for Men (NCFM) sponsors one in San Diego, California.

Stop Abuse For Everyone (SAFE) has one in Austin, Texas. And a dv number you can call for advice.

You're right that these aren't federally funded. It's all grassroots efforts. But we're trying with what we have.

Btw if you want to show your support, membership with the NCFM is only $35 per year. It's not just about the money, having members and supporters helps them a lot when they go lobby congress and work to fix things (it helps prove that people care and want change).

This has become a trend in this sub. And also a self-inflicted wound to men's rights.

When there's some minor inconvenience to a woman in the firstest of first world countries, it is projected as a life-threatening problem women face all over the world and also on Mars.

When there's some significant, unfair issue men face all the world over, people say "Men in the US face institutional sexism" and "But we still need feminism in 3rd world countries". It's ridiculous.

Men receive an average of 63% longer sentences for the SAME crime compared to women. Furthermore, women are two times more likely to avoid incarceration altogether for the SAME crimes men get sent to prison for.

It's rarely noted that the latter factoid steps on the former.

Think about it. If only the very worst female offenders get any sentence at all then you're not comparing like with like when you say men's sentences are 63% longer.

You're comparing the average male convict with only the worst of the worst female convicts and saying the average man STILL get 63% longer than the worst of the worst women.
