My ex-wife was dating one of her 17 yr old student. Once I found out and turned her in(to the school, not the authorities), the school put her on paid administrative for a few months, and then just let her come back and teach the same classes with the same student she was dating. I think they were waiting to see if anyone was going to get the authorities involved, and when they realized no one came asking, they just told her to get back to work. On went life until a few months later the local paper ran a story about numerous teachers that had improper relations with students, only then did they ask her to resign. Still no charges were filed! The state caught wind of the story and asked her to surrender her teaching certificate, and that was it. It really opened my eyes to an entire culture of apathy at multiple levels with organizations that are supposed to be looking out for our children's welfare
