I disagree with what another comment said, it’s not simply a useless piece of skin. I am intact and I will attest that my frenulum attached to my foreskin, as well as the inner mucosa of the skin have made maturation so much more pleasurable. For intact males, they have the ability to experience circumcision by leaving the skin retracted and boy is it an awful, painful experience. But seriously, the males who were cut at birth don’t know what they don’t have, so I don’t have compassion on them who try to trivialize the foreskin. For you OP, I do have compassion for.

Now about forgiving your mom, I can see why you are conflicted about this. She gave you life, raised you up in a caring and loving manner, cooked you food, etc. So I would forgive her. But before doing so, talk to her one on one. Tell her that she is complicit and that she was wrong, because even though she didn’t know there was any negative effects, did that thought never even cross her mind? For gods sake this is your own child, why wouldn’t you try to be informed about this? So make known your dissapointment in her ignorance and tell her you missed out on some benefits of being intact. Then forgive her. I suggest you do the same with your dad. His dad probably cut him, his dad’s dad cut him, and so in. He too is ignorant, but tell them that doesn’t excuse that action he took.

So basically tell your parents your concerns regarding their actions, the benefits you missed out on, and tell them you are firm in your belief against this practice and you will not cut your future son while he is a nonconsenting child. Then forgive them.

i mean, her intention was to deprive you of a normal part of your penis, so i don't think that can ever be considered a good attention. one doesn't need to know any of the negative effects of circumcision to understand that it's wrong to deprive somebody of a normal part of their body.

that said, has she apologized? do you feel like she truly means it?

I am very anti circumcision.

I don't think it is right to hold a grudge against your mom for this at all. I'd Blame the dad more, but that seems wrong as well.

I accept it as an uninformed choice they made and forgive me parents. I save my and for advocating for it to stop in children of today.

not at all. if she truly did do it as a favor, that is a terrible reason (what reason is good). You don't trade a part of your child's well being and sexual pleasure "as a favor". But you were going to get circumcised anyway, so it doesn't really matter. that being said, it was NOT a good intention for her to agree to something she did not know about that would affect the rest of her child's life in some capacity or another to please someone else. Still, you should forgive your parents, it is a product of their lived experiences.

She failed in her duty as a parent, that's all there's to it. In a matter that directly affects one of the most important aspects of your life, she chose not to protect you, not to investigate the matter herself, and to merely accept the opinion of someone else. Intents aside, she didn't act on your behalf, which is the duty of a guardian or parent.
