First of all, this is not a throw-away. This is a new alias I am using permanently. My original had some personal reference in it.

My wife(25) and I(28) are facing separation after 5yrs of marriage--on her terms. She's not "in love" anymore. I have been a complete beta. I let her take the wheel throughout most of the marriage because I was unhappy. After being on my own emotionally, I have rebuilt myself with some heavy reading, support from family/friends, gym, and more heavy reading in TRP.

I do not blame her for the marriage issues. She had no idea about the way I felt. I realize now that I WANT the marriage to work, but I NEED to feel good about myself as a man. I am willing to walk. I expect to walk. I expect this because she has previously expressed to me that she desires to be an individual with her own identity and find herself. I have alluded to some TRP theory with little success and a lot of resistance.. Just by mentioning that I have felt controlled for quite some time. I am questioning whether or not I should strike while she's starting to break down (saying "I don't know what to do"), or wait it off and let it marinate with her little by little.

Some more backstory:

We have went through some dread game already. Her going out every weekend. I responded by going with a buddy to a vacation spot for 4 days. She was very open to working on the marriage when I got back, unlike before... But at this point I already started to accept TRP.

We have a son, 4y, but he will have a good life with both parents no matter what happens.

Anything helps. If I'm being a spade, call me a spade.

Edit: convo I just had with her confirms I am just not ready. She speaks to me like I'm a child and carries a thick attitude when I bring up the control/submission angle. It's most likely a combination of her strong independent woman upbringing and my weaknesses in articulation. I tried to tell her to give me time and that we should read up on some things, but she demanded I elaborate. Demanded. I left the conversation because I don't want to try at this point. I hadn't read the replies yet, otherwise wouldn't have said anything about submission before reading.
