Over the last few months, being new to RPW, I'm realizing that I have no idea how to politely disagree with my husband. If my opinion differs from his on a topic, I often end up feeling like I play devil's advocate and it riles him up/makes him feel disrespected. Or, if I just plain have a different preference, sometimes (not always), it ends up being my opinion bending to match his, which isn't a bad thing, but it makes me scratch my head about how to maintain my own personality without rubbing my husband the wrong way.

To paint a quick picture, he's not domineering or controlling, but he's not a total beta pushover either. He was converted to TRP about 9 months ago or so, so we're both learning, but I am pretty sure I have the bigger ground to cover when it comes to positive change in our marriage relationship.

One thought I have mulled over is that I don't spend enough time validating him when he is talking. I am discovering that I am tragically inexperienced at it. Got any good scripts for me, ladies?

I would appreciate any advice/stories/thoughts on this matter. Thanks RPW!

TL/DR: How does a RPW discuss her opinion on a topic when it differs from her S.O.'s without coming across as argumentative/bitchy? Or, in other words, how does a RPW stay submissive when having a different point of view from her man?

Edit: Thanks peeps, I appreciate all the well-thought-out replies. I think I have a good amount of material to work with and it should keep me busy for the next, well, rest of my life. ;) But seriously, thanks... looks like first item on the agenda is: I need to suck less at listening. Not just with hubby but with everyone.
