Everything here was supposed to disappear. Banned subreddits, deleted communities, cancelled blogs — much of what is archived here survives nowhere else.

It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

Statistically the opposite is true. But never forget women most affected

[–]babno 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're thinking about it wrong. Just as women have been the primary victims of war, women have lost husbands, fathers, brothers, to covid.

[–]JustJamie- 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That would make them secondary victims, not primary victims.

It's a quote from Hillary Clinton

Now I don't like her even more.

It has disproportionately affected women. Disproportionately minimally.

This

I can't do it right now. Mental gymnastics without coffee. I'll try back later.

Not at all

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is true that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected women; in the sense that, the majority of people who have not died from COVID-19 are women.

Keep making them look as victims when they have so much privlage

[–]Cerberus11x 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Technically true

[–]Jakeybaby125 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

/s?

[–]Cerberus11x 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No, it is disproportionate. Just not in the way that they claim.(I've misread it but technically disproportionately less is still disproportionately affecting women.)

[–]Jakeybaby125 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's disproportionately affected men by far. It's the same old adage: Men die more, Women most affected

[–]Cerberus11x 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree, the point they are trying to make is dumb, but refer to the parenthesis in my last reply.

[–]Jakeybaby125 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm guessing it's the nature of the wording for the article

Why the flair?

[–]slixx_06 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its like war negatively affecting women

[–]plainwalk 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

CBC also says the same, but couches it in terms of job loses (which may or may not be true.) No article linked, so I can't say if TorStar means the same thing.

[–]GalileosTele 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Anything that disproportionally negatively affects men, or even equally affects men, is strictly forbidden. In determining gender inequality, the UN bends over backwards and goes through olympic level mental gymnastics to ignore, write off, dismiss, reinterpret, mask, and obfuscate any situation where boys are at a disadvantage... finding a way to present it as the opposite if possible. It can be mathematically demonstrated that it's impossible for their algorithm to get any other result than girls being disadvantaged, even if the opposite is true. Then there's the World Economic Forum, that literally defines boys being at a disadvantage as "gender equal".

Official measures of gender inequality are set up to ignore disadvantaged boys.

Meteor hits Pluto, women most affected.

[–]bukecn 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because men die more often, that means more wives lose their husbands than husbands lose their wives. See, women are the real victims!

[–]mariokart290 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I swear they are trying to find every reason now to seem oppressed. I really start to question if they actually enjoy calling themselves oppressed

[–]INCREDIBILIS55 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Disease kills bears, women most affected

[–]dikbum -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No this is totally true, when the man of the house dies then it's the woman who suffers.
