This isn't just "oh they are wrong for telling boys something is wrong with them when they are just being immature" this is "why the fuck are kids recommended for adhd based on untrained teachers" Literally sooo many people have the wrong idea about adhd. Literally trained and untrained alike. Some psychiatrist won't even treat kids for adhd without recommendations from their elementary school. The problem with why this graph is this way is also because NOBODY TOLD THEM HOW ITS PRESENTED IN FEMALES DIFFERENTLY. Sorry I never failed elementary school to get recommended. Females aren't as hyperactive, they have trouble socializing and talk to fast. "But that's not adhd, adhd means you dislike doing boring ass assignments and fail algebra!" Like No Karen it means my brain barely produces any stimulation on it's own to the point where if I don't receive a certain level of outside stimulus that I literally lose the energy to think straight. Why some use fidget toys or need to doodle to listen to a lecture. Why sometimes I literally can't find the dopamine in me to get out of bed, stuck on my phone searching for a spec of stimulation to make me feel okay. Literally my brother's got treated but they never tested me cuz I'm a girl and I didn't fail school. At least they have a higher chance of treating boys who have actual adhd. The more false positives it feeds into leads to the "Oh most grow out of it. It's just a fake immaturity disease not an actual thing get over yourself." cuz the ones suggested for diagnosis probobly never had it. Fuck the system for following dumb fucking stereotypes on a mental disorder. Fuck them for systematically feeding into it they literally don't know shit.

The graph shows the birth month of a young child. The younger the child (relative to his classmates) the more likely he is to be diagnosed with ADHD

My nephew was wrongly made into an adhd kid and it ruined his whole education and fucked up many years of his life with school forced medication etc.

The US fucked a whole generation of boys.

Go figure today young men are struggling

was tested at 8, diagnosed at 11. Gave me depression, just upped the dosage because i “got distracted”.

I have ADHD but my mother and sister have anxiety and depression - guess which one of us has the right diagnosis?

Tread carefully with this subject because I’ve yet to meet a person who was diagnosed with ADHD late in life who isn’t an massive medication enthusiast.

A coworker of mine went to a special school to teach him how to cope with ADHD before ADHD was a thing and was held back two years because of it - a simple pill would of changed the trajectory of his life if they were available to him when he was a kid.

Sometimes, like with autism, boys are diagnosed more than girls cause the study was done mostly on boys. That’s why the bias exists in autism. Probably the same with ADD/ADHD.
