Witnesses say a 24 year old woman says she wants to kill 5 teenage boys (they were in a fight with her family), runs them down in a car killing one, not guilty of murder.

Women more likely than men to need intelligence and good looks to get ahead in Australia, study finds (no mention that, according to the same methodology, men need more competence and connections)

A Texas judge rules that women can be drafted. Feminists fail to see that this makes a draft less likely, because they won't admit that women are seen as less disposable.

KFC apologises for 'sexist' ad that makes a joke about women (accidentally) sexually harassing young boys. Because it's sexist against women.

A constant complaint against men - they don't ask for dates and initiate sex the right way (other than incels, who just whinge online). Yet feminist women would generally rather whinge online than have women ask for dates and initiate sex.

Whenever feminists claim feminism is good for men (because everything bad is because of patriarchy), flip it and point out how every problem women have is because of gynocentrism

Is it ever OK for men to wear shorts in the office? Australia's national broadcaster apparently has mixed but generally negative feelings.

First let's fix the COVID19 gender death gap.

[–]PlatinumBeetle 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

By lowering the number of male deaths. Not raising the number of female ones.

Hilda relies on self reported data gathered by survey, an inherently bias data set with a high degree of uncertainty.

A very quick review of the HILDA report reveals the survey includes "shopping" as a household work activity. A casual review of retail stores in most shopping centres shows a preponderance of women's fashion related businesses, an observation consistent with the IBIS business report which shows women's fashion to be one of the highest yielding cash flows in the Australian commercial enviornment. Similarly, it's difficult to separate hobby activity tinkering with motor vehicles from necessary work for family. The reliability of the HILDA report as an estimate of work done is difficult to estimate.

At best, the results of the HILDA report selectively presented in this "Women's Day" article reflect social stereotypes, and 4 decades of feminist propaganda, more than any serious estime of paid and unpaid work. The conclusions reached by the author reflect her personal sexist bias and the entrenched misandry of the Australian Women's Broadcasting Corporation (AwBC).

My neighbour spends about 12 hours cooking every week. Every weekend, he preps a roast, prepares hot coals, puts it in his BBQ, and smokes it for hours. He'll also grill everything he can during the week. I don't think this is because he's being oppressed by his wife. And while I'm sure his wife kinda benefits from it, she probably wouldn't be much less happy if she was spending more time cooking food that she preferred to eat.

[–]RyansPutter 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My dad did that the first year of his retirement. He'd grill like twice a week. If it was raining, he'd grill in the garage. Now he's stopped. I think my mom got sick of eating brats and hamburgers all the time because now everytime I visit them I eat ham, turkey, or lasagna that she cooked.

[–]ModsAreThoughtCops 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This just makes me want to get a grill. Grilled burgers and steaks all the time? Sign me tf up

That's the problem with HILDA and many other epidemiological studies that try to estimate unpaid work. Define work?

The problem is trying to divide work done between sexes, as if male and female are collectives with all members of the collectives affected by the behaviour of the whole. This is just an us versus them kind of argument that divides and provides a power base for those leading the argument.

If you do want to look at the us versus them argument, the HILDA data tells a simple story about whether men or women are most constrained by stereotyped gender role expectations. The evidence shows that women have more choices than men, and men have few choices at all. Now that's a conclusion you don't see in the article!

Heh. Right. That gap will never be resolved in my house. It just keeps getting bigger. Now I'm even picking up and throwing away her used tissues.

I’m finding her hair all over the bathroom floor everyday....

[–]eNomineZerum3 points 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

As a guy with shoulder length + hair it is pure laziness that leads women to leave their hair everywhere. My wife and I have totally different hair and you can see the difference like night and day.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem is they mix in all men and all women.

What is wrong if a husband works 50hr a week pId job. And the stay at home wife does all the housework? That seems fair doesnt it?

Full disclosure. I'd love to a SAHH as long my wife goes out and makes my salary. 4 hours of housework a day tops.

[–]lacosteshoes 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I live alone and do 100% of housework for myself. It’s not a big deal.

[–]thowaway_throwaway[S] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You probably do it the way you want it to be done.

If a couple are together, then one of them gets to do it they way they want done, and the other does nothing. So they can both feel resentful if they want.

[–]RyansPutter 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I bet most of these studies that look at gendered housework only count traditionally women's work such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and childcare. I wonder if they count all the "housework" men only do, like:

-Yardwork

-Car maintenance (including things like being the one to change the tire in a downpour)

-House maintenance

-Snow removal

-Heavy lifting

-General handymanwork

-Being the one to grab the nightstand piece/baseball bat/Taser/2x4 and investigating the strange noise at 2 AM

-Being the one to make sure that your family is alright in a disaster/emergency and then being the last one to be evacuated

Edit: I forgot to include grilling, which is done mostly by men and is pretty time intensive.

[–]thowaway_throwaway[S] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Fixing the internet. If you want to include trivial hobby shit (like decorating and most cooking) then building gaming rigs and decorating man-caves would count.

[–]RyansPutter 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't call cooking trivial shit. Unless you want to eat only fruit and raw vegetables, cooking is kind of essential.

[–]ModsAreThoughtCops 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Me and my fiancé cook together every time.

I’d almost say it is trivial, just the act itself.

It’s the dishes afterwards that’s the real bitch.

[+]eNomineZerum1 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Single pot recipes my sir. Crock-Pot, Stews, Soups. A lot of stuff can even cook in the same pan, just in various orders.

Dishes are inevitable, but you can greatly reduce what you need. If it is a crock-pot dinner that crock-pot most likely goes in the fridge for leftovers meaning you have what, a knife and couple cutting boards to clean up.

[–]ModsAreThoughtCops 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah we got an instant pot for Christmas last year so we have been using the fuck out of that. Homemade chili in less than an hour, vs when we used to let it simmer on the stove for like 3 hours.

Ribs, the same thing. Cook em for 35 mins in the instant pot and the put them under the broiler with some bbq sauce for 5 mins. Crazy tender.

Used to crock pot them for 7 hours on low and they still weren’t as tender as the instant pot gets them.

[–]thowaway_throwaway[S] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I said most cooking. Most of the cooking that people do at home is not real work, it's just fucking around and very gradually cooking an overly elaborate meal that appeals to exactly one person (the cook).

[–]bakedpotato486 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure, but that batch of cookies?

[–]KindPrecise 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s also a good opportunity for wives to put out sexually to their deprived husbands. After all isn’t it always the excuse of ‘I’m tired from work’.....

Put out more ladies, stop nagging and maybe he’ll do more around the house.

[–]PlatinumBeetle 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

sigh Just once I'd like to see marital duty not gendered like this.

[–]pkarlmann 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So women are now going to fix the computers and the wifi? And the stairs and any other "dirty" work? Anything feminists can't or won't do is not considered housework. And on top of that they have bullshit like plants and decorative crap standing around that need to be taken care of (watering, cleaning).

Really, imagine how a female would in quarantine react if the wifi doesn't work...

[–]Turpekus 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You mean the woman actually cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, checking the mail, taking out the trash, etc? Not likely. Ive always had to do all of those things
