Someone suggested that human males were unnecessary, and that the species could survive without them.

The Y chromosome carries information that is specific to males only. Thus, males to a degree have evolved separately to females.

There are differences between males and females as a result. Larger bodies and greater muscular strength are only the most obvious ones.

There is a reason why almost all the higher plants and animals use sexual reproduction. It has been working for almost a billion years. Nature works.

There is a reason why almost all the great ideas that advanced civilisation were developed by males. Males are not bound by pregnancy and child care, and have the free time and wide spectrum of intelligence required to make advances.

In addition to the above, males with their greater strength and possibly faster reflexes are able to defend humans from predators, competing tribes, natural disasters and other threats.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that males have been and continue to be essential for the survival of Homo sapiens sapiens into the future.

All this is not to disregard the equally essential role of females. Without women there would be no humans at all.
