Speak out when you see injustices, if more women did this I can't see how things could have gotten the way they are.
We seem to have picked up some previous inhabitants from deleted subs, they don't speak for the group, please ignore them.

Look up some of the honey badgers. They have a YouTube channel and a few of them hang out here and on places like Twitter. u/GirlWritesWhat in particular has a really big presence in the men's rights movement.
The last international conference on men's issues received a lot better press than the previous few because it was run by female MRAs instead of men. This year's conference will be the same way and hopefully will be equally as successful.
Women have a unique voice that male MRAs simply don't have. People listen to you. They're less suspicious of your motives and less likely to pull the "incel" card.
A lot of MRAs don't realize this, but having women on board helps a lot. It might not be "fair". We shouldn't have to have women in order for the movement to be taken seriously. But that's just the way it is.
If you're looking for more women IRL who would be more receptive or your views, look for moms who have sons. A lot of moms are sympathetic to men's issues because they see how it effects their children. My own mom always told me to get a prenup when I married and I think she understands that not everything is one sided against women.

To be fair, some men have been through the divorce game and have reason to be upset, don't take it personally.
But it's an interesting observation that women don't seem concerned about this sort if thing. Many men get the same reaction, but it's interesting here since they are not reacting to men.

Why do you preemptively apologize? Nobody's attacked her. There's no reason to perpetuate a suspicious attitude towards other male communities. OP should be encouraged to make an effort to understand where they're coming from.

Don’t allow the common misconceptions to continue when you are in your own private conversations.
Don’t allow talking points and extreme views to be normalized during conversations and don’t let it be glossed over.

The main thing you can do to help is stand up to other women. Women's aggression is covert and relationship based. Women will sabotage a man's relationship with others just to spite him by telling lies, half truths and spreading rumours.
Classic is when a relationship breaks down. A woman will overplay things to her advantage at the expense of a man.
To see if something is sexist just reverse the genders in the situation. If that is sexist, then you know the other situation is too

It's not as easy for Men's Rights Activism to get through to people as it is for Feminism, mostly due to the fact that people are educated with feminist ideologies.
For Men's Rights Activism, people need to know their facts if their going to get into conversations about this stuff. They need to know the actual statistics of what they're talking about; they need to be able to provide people with the source that provided the statistics to begin with.
Even a moderate to light feminist can say something like "Most domestic abuse cases in the U.S.A. are against women." without any facts or research of their own to back it up since this is so widely purported and believed by society. Anyone who speaks about men's rights however needs to have their facts, sources, and source credibility sorted before they even engage in such conversations or arguments, otherwise you'll be brushed off and discredited right out the gate by the more widely held view of things.
[–]girlwriteswhat 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I agree with the first half, disagree with the second. I believe people are naturally susceptible to the ideological narratives of feminism, which is why those narratives end up being both supported (often with little to no scrutiny or attempted falsification) and tolerated (with little to no objection, even by those who do not fully agree with them) within our institutions.
That is, I think it is more accurate to say that the fact of men's rights being more difficult, and the fact that people are educated with feminist ideologies are both caused by our natural susceptibility toward viewing men and women in particular ways.
Moral agent vs moral patient. Perpetrator vs victim. Our predisposition to more readily view men in the former role and women in the latter certainly did not originate with feminism.
Neither did the higher pragmatic value we place on female life, due to their reproductive potential. There is a complex of reproductive interests, from the level of the individual, to the kin group, to the societal group, that biologically predisposes us assign men (and even boys) to the role of risking death in the service of preserving and exploiting female reproductive potential.
Neither did the fact that women did not evolve as individuals, but as the mother/child dyad, which means women exhibit more sensitivity to danger, discomfort and anything else that would alert her to the conditions that affect her much more vulnerable children.
Neither did the fact that men evolved within a potential winner takes all reproductive paradigm wherein squeezing other men out of the game could confer staggering reproductive payoffs, and where their assigned social role depended on a certain ruthlessness when dealing with members of the same sex.
All of these predispositions and propensities that have existed forever make us so vulnerable to what feminism tells us about men and women that few even question it, and inoculates us against considering even well-backed information and arguments in favor of men's rights activism.

Saved. I've long wondered whether you could make a video or blog post about evolutionary psychology, stringing together in detail all your observations about bonobos, chimps and baboons, the evolutionary origins of the empathy gap and how you think humans evolved our specific brand of egalitarian monogamy + male provisioning of women and children. I'm aware that many of your videos contain sections dedicated to evolutionary psychology, but it would be nice just to have all of your insights in one place. This is one of the topics which MR tackles that I find the most interesting.
Also, while we're on the topic I've been wondering recently whether it was men's parental investment and provisioning that allowed humans to extend our period of development, or whether our extended period of development favoured the survival of the offspring whose fathers invested in them. That is - was it men's parental investment that allowed children to take longer to develop, or was it the increasing helplessness of children which selected for men who provided more than their good genes?

I think the closest I've ever come to presenting my "quick and dirty" version of how I think things went down in those regards were my presentations first to CAFE's national conference, and then shortly after (and slightly expanded) to ICMI17 in Australia.
As far as your second paragraph, it's kind of chicken and egg. I wouldn't be able to direct you to all my source material at this point, but the general consensus is that we walked upright for some time before we grew these big brains.
This is important, because this means the crisis of obstetrics we know occurred due to the changed architecture of our pelvises was not as severe as it would have been had our big brains evolved before, or concurrently with, bipedalism.
This means we didn't walk on two legs because we were already smart enough to want to do more things with our hands, or because our surviving, giant-headed infants had to be so prematurely born that they needed both our hands free.
It means we started walking on two legs due to a change in our immediate environment, and that all the other biological and social adaptations that followed bipedalism were, in whole or in part, also a consequence of having to contend with that new environment. And many of those consequential adaptations evolved/developed with a significant amount of overlap and a certain degree of positive feedback.
I mean, it's not like one week we had babies that were reproductively mature at age 8, and the next week it was age 12 or 15. And it's not like everyone had a meeting and decided, "starting on August 1, we're going to get rid of the harem thing and do egalitarian monogamy instead because the kids need that." These things happened because of each other, in a reinforcing cycle that could have been broken at some point, but wasn't.
In other words, when you ask this: "That is - was it men's parental investment that allowed children to take longer to develop, or was it the increasing helplessness of children that selected for men who provided more than their good genes?"
...the only appropriate answer is, "yes."

Would you say that gender equality is a Western values?
[–]girlwriteswhat 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It began in the West. It is increasingly a global value.
And this is not to say that gender equality is a moral good or a moral bad. In my opinion, regardless of the moral goodness or badness of the proposition, there has been no society that has been successful in delivering it. I don't think it's in the realm of human capability. We will always opt for a bastardization of the proposition that complies with our innate preference for female wellbeing and safety.

So, you don't think that 'gender equality' is a superior value that marks Western culture as a moral leader of humanity?
Are we moving towards 'gender equality' or are we moving towards 'fempocalypse' (as you called it in one of your videos)?
[–]girlwriteswhat 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You have to ask yourself some questions:
1) is actual gender equality achievable? Is it possible to not just grant women equal rights and privileges to men, but to impose equal responsibilities and accountability on women? In the West, we have achieved the former (and then some) but not the latter. Can the latter be done?
2) is actual gender equality a moral good? Will it serve the cause of human happiness, wellbeing and success? Will it lead to a better and more stable society, where everyone has the best chance of thriving? Or is it a pipe dream that when implemented is so incredibly costly that it essentially devours everything around it (fempocalypse, essentially).
3) is there some place we can get to where everyone feels they are treated with fairness and dignity, where they have enough options (even if not limitless) to derive satisfaction from their lives, and where the social fabric is strong?
4) does #3 necessarily require actual gender equality? Or, as I am increasingly suspecting, does actual gender equality erect a significant barrier to getting to #3, or even take us in the opposite direction?

Just repeating the points that are made on here elsewhere would be a big help. When a man makes these points, they are often rejected simply because they are being made by a man, but as a woman, it takes that weapon; that excuse to ignore what's being said, out of our opponents arsenal.
