Something slightly similar happened to me while I was an undergraduate as well. There was one major professor who advocated to remove male students from the English Department. She wanted all men removed but she wasn't a Ph.D. and some of the male professors were so she didn't have the respect or authority to actually do anything. But she did have the ability to give her male students a failing grade and tell them to "Get out of my major" and that is exactly what she did.

I'm not sure "Women's Lunch" or "Men's Lunch" is a bad thing. But it stands to reason if there was a "Men's only Lunch" someone would throw a fit about it.

Option 1: forget the whole thing it will be a crock anyway.

Option2: Go to the lunch , if challenged say you identify as a woman ( at least until you get a free lunch ) -if they call BS accuse them of being discriminatory & transphobic.

Option 3 : take a few mates to the pub for lunch and be thankful your not tying yourselves in gender politics like the mad professor.
