I just watched this movie and noticed two really important things. The first being that I saw a lot of older men with their wives in the theatre. I actually overheard two of them saying (separately, to their respective wives) that they hadn't been to the cinema in years but just HAD to see this movie. The second is that the two main characters in this film are self made men. They pour actual blood, sweat, and tears into this project. They put their bodies, time, money, and livelihood into the building and perfecting of the GT40. Ken Miles also was portrayed as a loving, intelligent, gentle, caring father who clearly loves his son and it's also clear that his son adores his father and the work he does.

All of this is why feminist hate this movie. Plus it involves cars, which to them, are uninteresting and probably shaped too much like penises.

When a woman asks me what I've been doing and I mention I've been doing some maintenance work on my car, they ask "why don't you just take it to the repair shop". They can't conceive the satisfaction of fixing it myself, doing it right (vs having to return due to a bad repair) and from saving money.

Charlie's Angels, a modern retelling of a woke feminist empowerment story bombed in the same weekend, $8 million.

My favorite part is when the guys wife freaks out and starts driving fast up the road because he went out with his friend the night before. She didnt even give him a chance to explain himself she just sped up the street yelling at him. I've seen that trope played out in so many movies and realized that women see this shit in movies and think its ok to do in real life...

Like in movies when they think its ok to nuke a marriage or relationship over a small fight or miscommunication and make the dude "prove" himself by chasing after them.

"Girls Trip" was all about women and they dominated screen time. Men were merely filler whilst the film was centred on women and their interests. They all wore makeup. Loads of makeup companies have female CEOs. More women are interested in makeup than men but we'll ignore that.

So, the critic here is upset that an historically accurate portrayal of this time frame was not rewritten to include a social diverse or inclusive cast because a film can’t be worth watching unless the entirety of the plot has been rewritten to show persons of color, creed, sexual or gender identification other than heterosexual white men? They could have handled the ending better, it wasn’t a perfect movie and it would have been better if that technicality was mentioned at some point in the beginning, but other than that, it was a really amazing movie. The actors brought their A game, the cars alone made it worth it.
