In Romania we do not have words for "the". Instead all words are either feminine, masculine or neutral. Depending on those factors we change the ending of a word accordingly. For example:

Table = Masă = Feminine The table = Masa One table, Two tables = O Masă, două Mese.

Rape = Viol = Un Viol, Două Violuri = Neutral Rapist = Violator = Un violator, Doi violatori = Masculin Rapist = Violatoare = Violatoare, Doua Violatoare = Feminine

So i guess in my language its really fair as the term for rape is gender neutral and each gender has a variant of the word.

I am Swedish. You are right, the word for rapist is valdtaktsMAN, with no acceptable female variation (you would have to use a generic term such as forovare, offender). We also use the word gärningsMAN for perpetrator, with the gender neutral gärningsPERSON still sounding awkward (despite making some headway).

French has violeur, with the female form violeuse close to unheard of. Same situation in German, Vergewaltiger vs VergewaltigerIN, the latter sounding bizarre.

In the still relatively few cases of women convicted of rape, journalists and jurists have to resort to circumlocutions.
