I bet a 90+ critics score and a 20- audience score just like batwoman

[–]FUCKEAGAMES 48 points49 points50 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I mean if they wanna make an all female movie that's cool I just hope they actually come up with a good premise for it and it doesn't devolve into HURR DURR never send a man to do a woman's job. They have some cool female characters I wouldn't mind seeing more of but the story should be about what makes them great and not what makes men inferior which I bet is what is gonna happen

[–]apeironman 25 points26 points27 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Right? Like, I feel Carol Danvers only motivation in Captain Marvel was because she was angry at that one pilot who they kept flashing back to saying: "You know why it's called a cockpit, don't you?". Shit, even her dad (in the movie) is low-key painted as a bad guy because he's trying to protect her. I mean, I get that it's supposed to be about men holding her back or some shit, but I find the OTC boot camp scenes to be particularly bad. When I was in the military, we might have given each other static, but we supported each other, we didn't hold each other back.

I mean, I get that it's supposed to be about men holding her back

The problem is, that's all they present on screen: Bad men with no redeeming features whatsoever.

If it were the reverse, there'd be hell to pay but since we live in a time when it's a-okay to vilify white men then, well, Brie Larson and her cronies are free to portray men as incompetent, uncaring buffoons incapable of human feeling.

I haven't seen the captain marvel movie so I can't speak for any of that but that is about what I expected from it. Now Shuri I would love to explore as a character bc she's unique and cool. Same thing with Mantis, a lot of room for growth and development there. Everybody loves black widow and for good reason, could fill a natural leadership role in the movie. I guess what I'm saying is they have a lot of ways to make a great movie with the female stars, but what they're gonna do is just bash men somehow. I'd love to be wrong though.

[–]apeironman 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yarp. I already get enough subtle male-bashing in my day-to-day life not to want to pay money to see a movie that's going to give me another heaping helping of it.

[–]FUCKEAGAMES 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well you obviously have a fragile male ego and hate women then, incel. /s

[–]apeironman 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Busted!

[–]bufedad 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And all female movie? Dows that mean the majority slaughtered mindlessly will be women?

[–]Delta_DeConstruct 21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No. It means there will be no female villians

[–]apeironman 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Probably, yeah. And they will be a caricature of sexism, to boot.

[–]Delta_DeConstruct 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't wait for the twist ending where the female villain or right-hand of the main villain turns on him because he's "an evil man"

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably will be straight white males as the villains in the movie

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Could you imagine if any of the male cast, at any point over the last ten years, had gone public saying "we want the next marvel movie to deliberately exclude women. Men-only". It astounds me that Brie Larson is still able to get away with this level of misandry. A man making statements even half as bigoted as she does would have lost his job and blacklisted. There is no situation in which multiple male cast members could ever walk up to the directors and be like "hey, we really want a movie that doesn't have women in it and we're really passionate about making that happen". That type of gender chauvinism would just be unthinkable at this point.

[–]YooGeOh 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is all about equality and equality means exclusion.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sounds good.

If they'd like to do an all female only opening again like WW, they can knock themselves out.

Whatever makes em happy.

[–]tenchineuro 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, but would it pass the Bechtel test or would they spend all their time bitching about men?

I have a feeling that we will find out.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm gonna take Door #2

[–]SacNuts 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They should really sock it to the patriarchy by having an all female film crew, producer, and director too. Also have it funded exclusively by women.

[–]John238[S] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And watched exclusively by women that love actions movies.

[–]T_Rash 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women were with you up until you wanted them to spend their own money. Don't you know men make more than women? So it is only fair men fund the movie

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. She wants Disney to fund an all woman movie.

PS. I want to eat chocolate ice cream for lunch every day. I never get what I want.

Shut up, ill keep my money!

[–]Lion_amongst_gods 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Speak for yourself. And if you're authorised to speak for all of "Marvel's superheroines", why don't you fund the movie with your own money?

When has she not "wanted" something? I hope they do make the movie. I also "want" Marvel to lose money.

[–]DepravedWalnut 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is gonna end just as well as Ghostbusters wahmen edition. Or worse

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then she and her fellow empowered women over in Hollywood can look forward to less box office returns, inevitable bankruptcy and a ruined career.

The day I take that plank of wood and everyone else in the studio system seriously is the day hell freezes over, thank you verrrry muuuch!

[–]SqueakyPoP 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The last few all female remakes haven't made any money. Companies will only pretend to be woke if they make a profit.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't be so sure, the problem is the people who run these companies all belong to the same society as feminists and they fear them because they encounter them every day. Many of the executives etc. would sooner go out of business than piss off feminists because of this simply because they don't know any better.

I mean, this is how you get shit like CNN for example, they genuinely think that anyone outside of their left wing bubble who thinks differently to them are racist Trump supporters.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with that -- as long as Larson wears a paper bag over her head.

[–]jessesoto305 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Captain Marvel is a disgrace. The MCU turned an existing male comic books hero female instead of taking an already female heroine. It’s not creative that they used the Miss Marvel character as the main captain marvel, it’s a lazy attempt at gender inclusion that suppresses actually creative female comic heroines and makes MCU captain marvel a sad hybrid of an original character with an existing comic book character. Horrible for both male and female comic book heroes.

[–]whelponry 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the same SJW madness that has plagued so many movie and TV franchises. It's all a coordinated effort and utterly destroys the original creators' intent.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rotten tomatoes critic score 100% audience score 5%

[–]lumberjack707 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then make an all male movie πŸ˜‚

[–]YooGeOh 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not mad at this so long as they have a decent storyline. Given recent form though, I fear it'll just be a film about being women and how much of a hindrance men have been, rather than a well made film with a good story. I fear there will be lots of 'men spoke over me' and 'a man told me to smile' and 'a man told me how to do this thing I know how to do' and 'when I was younger I was shy and retiring and let boys walk all over me but now I have stilettos and I walk all over their gentials'.

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh please, it won't even be that sophisticated, it will probably just be filled with cliche bullshit like in batwoman where they act like they're amazing and smirk constantly afterwards, feminists don't seem to be capable of writing anything as detailed as that.

[–]Ckpie[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It'd be fine, as long as they can realistically explain why none of the male superheroes showed up without it being forced or cheesy......like that scene in Endgame.

[–]T_Rash 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And they all want to get paid like Robert Downey Jr

[–]MRA-Sid 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They want to do gossip in the action movie πŸ€”

[–]Mythandros 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No thanks. Especially not when traditionally male superheroes are being copycatted by their female versions, just bastardizing the character.

If they played original, creative, interesting and engaging characters that weren't feminists deep down then I MIGHT be interested. Maybe.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She doesn't speak for all 'female superheroes' and to start that BS will ensure some female actors, including hers, careers will be over.
