There is this guy who's supposed to be my friend, though we're not really close friends, who has an ambiguous behaviour towards me, and I wonder if some of you ladies is willing to help me figuring out what he wants. It's either he likes me, or he's a complete jerk (I like him, but of course I'll give up if the second case is true).

We're both in our 20s and MS students. I've met him 1 year ago during the BS but we never talked that much (he was kinda introvert and reserved, always quiet). I helped him with some university stuff during the summer (only via phone, we never met), and then this autumn he gradually changed his behaviour towards me.

Now he's constantly teasing me, joking with me, and we laugh all the time we're together like two children, but he never asks me out. He usually compliments me a lot for my intelligence (I have all A and A+), but never for my body, although everyone thinks I'm from pretty to hot (I'm thin and I take care of my outfits and makeup). Some days ago I helped him with a homework, and he thanked me texting me "what a woman" with a kissing smiley, which is kinda strange of him (he hates texting, hates smileys, and most of all never sent me a kissing smiley outside of birthday/christmas wishes texts).

He also called me "love" (in a romantic sense) a couple of times. One of them he had a joking tone, but I'm not sure about the other. Other times he jokingly says things like "how can I do without you?" or "when are we going to marry?" after I help him with something for our lessons. And he also sings love songs when he's sitting next to me in class, which creeps me out a bit because I don't know what to think or how to react.

On the other hand, he's kinda vulgar around me (I usually laugh and tell him to stop it). He recently said that his mom is like me for what concerns vulgarity level (she hardly says anything vulgar), while his dad is vulgar (and this also creeps me off, as he sort of compared the two of us to his parents).

He also admitted he behaves like this only with me, but after some time he contradicted himself saying he behaves like this with all of his friends. And I have no ways to check it, as he has no friends in our class and I don't know his friends.

He never touches me, not even for a hug (only accidental touches when we sit next to each other in class, that is to say, everyday). And he never asked me out (he asks me to meet only to study, and then he actually wants to study - though he teases me a bit every now and then and when we make a break).

What do you think about this? Could it be he likes me and is just a bit stuck? Or is he just acting like this for pure fun, without having a crush on me? He had a few ex girlfriends (I don't know how many), but none of them made it to 1 year.
