Why are you with someone long enough to constantly be lied to? What went wrong in the vetting process?
Arch had a great comment the other day that you might get some use out of.
Don't confront him about his lies. Don't point them out to him. Simply tell him that things aren't working out, you're not feeling it, it's over.
Since he's not a woman, he probably won't get dramatic about it and it'll be a clean break. He can go lie to some other girl. If he does get dramatic, thank your lucky stars you're getting out of this dramatic, clingy, liar bullet's way.
Don't cave. He won't change. If you tell him it's because of the lies and he's desperate to stay, he'll say he'll stop and you know he won't, so don't even bother getting into it. It's just not working out. Your mind is made up. Good luck to you.

It's a dealbreaker. Regardless of the situation. You lie, I kick your ass to the curb.

I had a boyfriend who lied to me all the time and was because he was spineless and told me what he thought I wanted to hear.
about actions he has taken but hasn't really
that line made me think of him. But if he's sitting around, lying to you about looking for jobs, I mean, that isn't the kind of man you should be depending on. Who's taking care of him in the mean time?
Pathological lying is a deal breaker. That is not captain material.

Lying denotes a lack of trust. Usually, I'd say that's a deal breaker, but I'm not sure what your situation is. However, I will say it's high time for a serious, serious chat.

You can't build a house without a firm foundation. If you can't trust a man, then why are you with him?
That aside, if you are going to confront I would approach with a firm but empathetic demanour - being angry about the lies aren't going to help the situation and probably cause more lying.

Lies are like cockroaches... For everyone you see there are a thousand more you haven't yet.
If you can't trust your captain to be truthful, then staying with him is like blindfolding yourself while he sails you off a cliff.

Never get into a relationship with someone with the aim of improving them or hoping that they will improve. It's just the worst thing you can possibly do. Either you accept someone exactly as they are in the initial stages of dating, or you kindly move on. You are not happy and neither is your boyfriend.

Trust and honesty are the glue that holds a relationship together

Walk. No matter what I have done in or out of LTRs, I'm honest when asked. Irregardless of the ramifications. I expect the same in return.
Otherwise, it will only get worse as it always does.
