The study you're quoting didn't exactly say that men are victims in 70% of domestic violence cases. It was a study of heterosexual relationships that showed that half (49.7%) of these relationships which had violence were reciprocally violent, and that in non-reciprocally violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70% of the cases (and since the relationships which were studied were heterosexual ones, men would be the victims in these cases).

So the actual statistic is "men are victims in >70% of non-reciprocal domestic violence cases". Not to take away from your point at all because it's perfectly legitimate, just being a pedant.
