I think you work in a corrupt industry. Psychotherapy, while once a science, is nowadays concerned primarily with an agenda.

What would any sensible man expect of the "social sciences"? Hasn't pretty much every single "study" released over the past 40 years been a reaffirmation of feminine superiority? Why get mixed up with that?

If you really wanted to do some good, I would raise awareness to this.

Psychology is not a science. The label science is just a tool used to give legitimacy to their supremacy group.

If you have no prestige, people don't actually fall for it.

It's a largely female dominated arena and very obviously biased against men.

Men don't want to participate in studies with the goal of proving most men are rapists or abusive or toxic.

Imagine if instead it was largely dominated by people who subscribed to a white supremacist viewpoint. Not the lynching kind, but the "scientific" obviously white culture is superior to the lesser races kind. And all the studies coming out about race were intended to prove some deficiency in the black race. They're lazy, they're criminals, their culture is toxic, they simply aren't as decent as whites. Etc etc etc. Think you'd have a hard time recruiting blacks?

I was hanging out at my local library a few weeks ago, and some people were doing a survey of local people in their 20s(i also fit this definition).

They talked to two women in the study area and left, both women, myself and a male friend of mine who just turned 21, were 100% ignored.

Odds are if you just ask a guy, they'll be up for stuff, if you expect volunteers, you will get few to none.

At the end of last year i was in a study about the brain, which i signed up for because it gave me a free MRI, i got in easily because there were so few male volunteers. Offering like a cookie or something wouldn't hurt either, people are more likely to do something if they get something out it, and from what i have seen and experienced making it seem 'worth' the time would help.

Much of the qualitative social research on men and masculinity includes a section on hegemonic masculinity (RW Connell), and reach conclusions filtered via the observers feminist ideology. These conclusions invariably use the contributed experiences of men to validate the researchers' feminist bias and portray men as fundamentally flawed.

Try formulating a survey instrument that collects men's experiences without observer bias, and critically review your own views to reduce or remove confirmation bias.

A really good example of what not to do is the TEN TO MEN Australian Longitudinal Men's Study. Recent publications use data from the study cohorts identifying suicidality and poor engagement of men with mental health services to conclude that dominant masculinity norms (i.e. toxic masculinity) cause men to commit suicide. Confirmation bias consistent with the feminist ideology of the lead researcher was allowed to influence interpretation of study results and suggest men commit suicide because masculinity (using the definition of masculinity from the Solanas SCUM manifesto) makes them do it! Not sure there's anything to be done. I don't know that "enticing" anyone into a field has a successful outcome. People have to have an interest in the field.

Much as with the push for women in stem, raise awareness about the field and it's opportunities, but other than that? Not much should be done. It's wasted effort.

Ever thought that men simply aren't interested in the humanities as a subject as much as other fields? Not all, but most.

Try to make a something like a scholarship that only takes men and tell me how that works out for you.

Here's a quick story. I chose sociology at A level in the early 1990s, and in the first class the tutor loudly repeated, "all men are potential rapists", while walking up and down studying our reactions. He weeded out, through bullying, 90% of the students in the first couple of months, until he was left with just three who met with his approval.

The field has little diversity of thought, yet it relies heavily on the interpretation of its observations. That's possibly why men won't take part.

I'd first like to give you a couple pointers of people/publications you might want to connect with to give you a deeper understanding:

Tom Golden (menaregood) is a psychotherapist (once a member of APA section that published the infamous guidelines) who has published a couple rather good books like the way men heal. He might be interesting to talk to with respect solution oriented, resource centered approaches to men's issues.

Helen Smith (interview) is a psychotherapist who has published Men on strike which is focused on men opting out of marriage and fatherhood and many of the underlying issues she uncovers in direct conversations with men also are at play in your area of concern, I think.

Secondly, my personal opinion:

I share most of the concerns that have already been expressed by others with respect to the misandry and racism of the grievance studies fields.

One risk that I'd personally be worried about is doxxing.

The grievance studies activists are known to play dirty. So, if I have to provide identifying information, there's a substancial risk that it will be mishandled (very likely with university "researchers" in my experience) and could end up in the hands of activists who then starts to harass me by pressuring my employer or other organizations I'm affiliated with or one of the other typical character assassination tactics those people are notorious for using.

So, the risk of having substancial negative impact on my personal life stands against marginal benefit of participating in a study that at best will have little to no impact and at worst is just yet another disguised hit job aiming to demonize men.

This is the (in the words of Helen Smith) the rational cost benefit analysis, I'm running when it comes to engaging with grievance studies.

I'm a former member of the academy and have witnessed the abyssimal conduct of grievance studies activists first hand, so please spare me the "not all social science researchers" blabla.
