Toxic masculinity, LOL. Just a nice label that bitter angry feminists made up to put on men who don't agree with them.

[–]themolestedsliver 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The best is when i was on /askafemnist just to see the other side a bit and in a post where someone actually called out toxic masculinity someone was quick to reply (and upvote) something along the lines "men need to police themselves because they are responsible for it" only for someone to bring up "..but do we tell women in STEM fields it isnt society being wrong, they choose wrong?" and it was such a breath of fresh air because it such a clear cut example of hypocrisy and they couldnt belittle it by bringing up the person gender or how much sex they have because it was a known member criticizing them so it was quite amusing to read.

I just hope that the new generation realizes that there is a reason for a gender pecking order. Women are better at some things men's are better than others. Leave it alone and lets progress from there. There are always outliers, but for the most part men make better engineers and scientists, women make better teachers and nurturers.

Toxic masculinity is a real issue, but it's an issue faced by men, not women. I read the article above and the author has no idea what toxic masculinity really is. She seems to think that it's just when men act toxic.

Everyone else in this thread seems to think the same, so here's the actual definition:

Toxic masculinity is defined by adherence to traditional male gender roles that restrict the kinds of emotions allowable for boys and men to express, including social expectations that men seek to be dominant (the "alpha male") and limit their emotional range primarily to expressions of anger.

[–]Bobbrobb 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Who came up with that definition? And I stand by my assertion the toxic masculinity is an invention of bitter feminists..

" including social expectations that men seek to be dominant (the "alpha male") and limit their emotional range primarily to expressions of anger."

I rest my case....

[–]KeenX72 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I pulled the definition from Wikipedia.

I rest my case....

I'm not sure how that quote proves that feminists invented toxic masculinity. They might use the term slanderously but, if anyone invented toxic masculinity, it was men or maybe even society as a whole.

[–]Bobbrobb 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Who else but a bitter angry feminist would come up with that tripe?

[–]KeenX72 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nobody came up with it, it exists. There is a social expectation for men to be far less emotional and vulnerable than women, and it's causing a lot of men to internalise their problems rather than talk to each other about them. Feminism has no part in this. I feel like you're just looking to blame something on feminists.

[–]Bobbrobb 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes the blame lies squarely on the suspect, as in this case.

[–]KeenX72 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Alrighty then, I guess this whole discussion was an exercise in futility.

[–]Bobbrobb 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed, I guess your mind is made up.

Spoiler Warning-

Exactly! That's why the cop sacrificed himself to save everyone! He finally realized that his toxic masculinity was the sole reason the portal was reopened and decided to kill himself so humanity could live on without one more toxic Male! It had nothing to do with selfless altruism as those males would have you think.

(I'm joking, please don't downvote)

[–]MagentaLove 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

God dammit, was in the middle of watching the last episode an got spoiled. I was doing so well.

[–]Sir_Sux_Alot 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I am so sorry, I should have put a spoiler warning- I'll update it.

[–]GendhisKhan 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yo, could you do the actual spoiler tag stuff with that spoiler, or add more spacing? I literally read the spoiler at the same time as reading Spoiler Warning, same boat as Magenta now.

[–]Sir_Sux_Alot 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry I didn't know there was a spoiler tag, I've fixed it and apologize again for spoiling the ending. It was not my intention.

[–]GendhisKhan 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dw about it, no harm intended

[–]Whitebastard111 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He isn't dead though

[–]Sir_Sux_Alot 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Did I miss something, or are you just speculating? I was thinking they would probably bring him back but I didnt see any evidence for it.

[–]Whitebastard111 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Im speculating, but I think there is some evidence. Right before the machine blows up, we can see the walkway where Hopper was just stamding a moment ago, but in the shot he is nowhere to be seen. When the machinr explodes, we see the 4 scientists disintegrate, but not Hopper. In the end credits scene, the Russian guard starts to open a cell door to take the prisoner inside, but another guard stops him and says "No, not the American"

[–]QuantemCipher 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

FUCK STRANGER THINGS HOW DO YOU DO THAT TO AN IMPORTANT PERSON

[–]Metroid545 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Only toxic masculinity I know of is when i fart so bad it clears the room

[–]MadPooter 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This made me laugh. I needed that.

[–]Egalitarianwhistle 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

These feminist articles are a dime a dozen. I cant take them seriously at all!. Take a normal problem and explain why it is the fault of men.

[–]-paulpawlowski- 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course they have billy on the front

[–]HesperianDragon 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm more scared of the Mind Flayer than any single human male.

[–]DarkstarAnt 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That thing is damn terrifying, made me somewhat queasy....lovely

[–]MadPooter 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Toxic Masculinity” is probably the most bullshit term being thrown around these days. It’s like you label something as “toxic” and all of a sudden people start giving it more attention.

Most frustratingly, people seem to accept and talk all day about “toxic masculinity,” but they somehow won’t talk about or consider “toxic femininity.”

I assure you—if one exists, the other does too.

[–]Blutarg 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL. That's funnier than anything in this show!

[–]Stumattj1 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Spoiler alert -

Didn’t Billy and the sheriff both sacrifice themselves out of selflessness to protect those around them who couldn’t? Like, if billy hadn’t held off the mind flayed, it could’ve very seriously taken out half the main cast.

[–]JaxJags904 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are accurate.

This author is a moron begging for clicks.

[–]ifelsedowhile 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

wait, the interdimensional monster had toxic masculinity?

[–]DarkstarAnt 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bustle.....that’s a new one.....kinda want to see other posts by this person........

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's like the people who can bring literally every problem society has back to lack of prayer in school.

When you're totally fixated on something and believe it with religious fervor you'll find everything is about that something.

[–]cursed_deity 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

stop using bustle then, you as a man are clearly not the type of reader they are trying to pull in

[–]WoodenCity 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am not a man lmao

[–]cursed_deity 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

then ignore this comment!

[–]xNOM -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I stopped watching after season 1. Season 2 was just too politically correct and cringey.
