The article's trying so hard to make him sound like a monster. They're going on about the way he talked about her and what-not. Though one can be offended by that, it's not illegal to boast

The part that's illegal is her age, which she lied about and which he probably didn't question, considering they met on a dating app, which are 18+ as it is. So while he may be crass, that doesn't make him a sexual predator

I feel bad for the bloke, but on the bright side, this is just one more level of insanity that will (hopefully) push men to action.

I gotta say 12 is really young. If she looked like most 12 year olds, this dudes kinda fucked up. However, some people age differently and this girl could have looked 19, in which case you gotta feel for him

Should he have checked her for I.D.? Why would you ask someone for I.D. when they're on a dating app made for 18+? Sure in hindsight he fucked up, but nothing on the girl? Nothing for lying or being on an app made for over 18 year old?

I'm having trouble with this one, she was twelve, I have trouble believing that she passed as 19.

Mind you. a female teacher who knowingly has sex with a 12-yo boy will probably get a short (probably suspended) sentence, and sometimes they won't even be charged, and this is a huge issue no matter how you look at it.

I'm pretty sure that under 12 in the UK is strict liability, and up to the age of consent it's 'knew, or should have known', and unless I saw a picture of her and she looked legal, I'd say 'should have known' is realistic.

They had a article in a local newspaper a couple of months ago of a guy who got charged with having sex with a underage girl ( I think she was 15 or 16). Anyway it was verified that the girl had lied to the guy about her age. One of the police officers stated that it was obvious that the girl was underage and she looked underage and that was why the guy had been charged. It's crazy to me to think that he was convicted because "it was obvious the girl looked underage".

Wow. This guy is basically tricked into having sex with this girl who lied about her age (she was essentially raping him through deception) and now he is going to be in prison for 2.5 years... yet I was raped every day from my earliest memories until I was a teenager by my own blood-relative and he got just over a year in prison for the crime even with ample physical evidence and a confession. There's really no justice in the world.

I usually agree with most posts here... upvote almost everything. But ughh... this isn't the type of thing to spread to improve mens rights or the movements image. A child lied, children do that. He should be held accountable for what he did whether he believed she was of age or not is irrelevant.
