male reporters COULD ask for permission from female athletes as well, that permission is simply not granted or asked for

The spin however:

"sports is dominated by males" that's why you don't see any male reporters in female locker rooms

I don't think they'd care all that much? As a culture, be it male or League forceful influence, they can't be seen as saying no to the notion of women seeking them topless.

I think that as a principal, if players want (or are made to) talk to a reporter. They can do it in there gear or when they have showered and changed. I can't see why the interview can't be done sooner or later if it's a problem with scheduling.

It's insane how these people condescendingly rationalize this shit. "it's part of their job" is not a good validation for this argument, because then it would also be "part of their job" for female athletes to allow male interviewers in locker rooms. And, no, it's not actually "part of their job". Their job is to play a sport and put their best into it. That's it.

It's not their job to be interviewed in a locker room and, even if it was, it shouldn't just be assumed that they consented to a female reported doing the work either. If women are allowed to feel uncomfortable with men entering their locker rooms, then men should be allowed to feel the same way.

And, if those women are reacting in any way that is inappropriate around those men, which you actually see pretty often, it should be treated as sexual misconduct, because that's how it would be treated if the genders were reversed.

And, is there really "consent" if a male athlete would be ostracized and demonized(if not reprimanded and penalized) for refusing a locker room interview with a female reported on the basis of her gender, or for any reason at all(since, because she's a woman, it could be viewed to be on the basis of her gender even when it isn't)?

I don't buy it. I believe there is pressure on players to allow this practice to continue. I don't believe any of them truly enjoy it and I don't believe any would miss it. There is always post game conferences and I would think that would be the most appropriate place to get answers.
