What are the best anti-feminist books/resources with a historical focus?

While it's not anti-feminist in nature, much of the scholarship on the First World War clearly documents the hell of the trenches, the experiences of men, and how they were treated as disposable cannon fodder. It's very difficult for me to engage with the topic and still treat the concept of patriarchy as worthy of discussion.

If a feminist is trying to argue that women have been historically mistreated by society, well they should also be aware of millions of men who lost their lives often due to conscription. Men were rounded up, shipped, processed, and then disposed of, as if they were cattle.

Also, this scholarship does more to understand the experiences of men during times of war, as well as how propaganda reinforces gendered expectations to fall on a sword to protect women and children. Ex: the Rape of Belgium really is a story that MRAs should research.

If interested a good classic is Eric Leed, No Man's Land.

Well for me I just went into a library and looked for some books written in the 50s or 60s about the 19th century. But that was twenty years ago and now I doubt you'd find books from before the great feminist revisionist history.

You can find some interesting stuff at the US Library of Congress web site. Well you could a couple of decades ago.

History has been changing to reflect the hateful views of feminists. Try to find old stuff.

I don't know about necessarily anti-feminist books, but it is well worth it just to examine actual historical documents that were pertinent to gendered laws and such.

Blackstone's commentary on the law will give you insight into the laws that applied to husbands and wives. This is usually what feminists refer to when they claim that "women were the property of men" but that is a gross misunderstanding of the law. The reality is it tried to balance powers between husband and wife, particularly while still giving them what they would want most (which in my opinion for women meant lacking the appearance of agency, something they still seem fond of).

With All the grace of their sex gives info about how women did have the ability to work, with the ability to join guilds as single women as well as widows whose husbands had worked in the trade. Paints a very different picture than feminists like to portray.

Dr Toqueville's writings on American women from the 1830s is interesting at the least to show that the discussion of what equality between men and women should be has gone back a long way.

Chaucer's The Wife of Bath is interesting as another example of gender discussion, and particularly feminist views of women, taking place long before modern feminism. There's also a portrayal of husbands hitting wives as bad (even though she threw him into the fire before that) and demonstrates that there was legal punishment for rape, particularly that the punishment used to be death. How could it be, don't we all know before 1960 rape was just a free for all under the law?

Gynocentrism and its cultural origins is also a great place to learn.
