Basically, it’s the story of a woman who kills her extra-marital lover. She goes to jail to await trial, hires a top notch lawyer to get her off without charges, lies to her husband about being pregnant and still loving him so he’ll pay for the lawyer, has sex with a doctor to persuade him to lie that she’s pregnant.
It’s just one pussypass after another. Oh, and the jail is full of these remorseless women. (One of the women gets the death sentence, but she does attest that she’s not guilty through the entire show). The lawyer and warden are working to get them all out without punishment for murder.
In the end, the main character got everything she wanted, except for becoming permanently famous from the headlines.

Yes, that's a good point, and I agree with you. If you notice above, I looked at the Wikipedia page on Chicago out of curiosity and posted the history of the musical, and the play from which it is derived, above.
Arguably, the main characters are getting "pussypasses", but then the question arises, why is this happening? Chicago has been described as a satire on 'celebrity criminals' and the way society responds to them, based on the history of a few murders committed by allegedly attractive women in Chicago in the 1920s. But then the question arises: who is giving them the pussy pass? Presumably the media and the judicial system was dominated by men in the 1920s, who were choosing to give the women murderers in question a 'pass', based on their looks. A good-looking male murderer, or a plain-looking female murderer, presumably, would not enjoy the same benefits.
Male newspaper readers in the 1920s, presumably, would chuckle nervously that these women were being acquitted; female readers would be scandalized. Chicago, both the musical and the play, satirizes some aspects of gender issues and the unequal treatment of people in society, based on appearance. Obviously, a disservice is done to all when such women get a 'pussy pass', but it shouldn't stop there. The more useful discussion is who is giving them the pussy pass and why, and how it should be stopped, if we want to create a more equal society. Chicago, like The Vagina Monologues, is a stage production that should arouse disgust and revulsion, not accolades.

Frankly speaking, I think the thread author did a disservice to themselves by not looking into the historical background of Chicago, either before or after posting. If their first impression of Chicago is that it's all about getting a pussy pass, fair enough. But a bit of digging shows that the themes and issues explored are much more complex than that. I'm glad they started the thread, because they got me curious about it and looked into it's history; IMHO there are gender themes to the extent that women are judged on appearance more than men, but perhaps that's as far as it goes.
At least, this isn't the usual "woman fucks kid and gets probation" story from 8 years ago, or the like, that keep getting recycled on this forum.
