Wasn't Jimmy Bennett 17 in 2013 though?

A lot of places within the U.S. and outside don't consider that any sort of crime unless there are extenuating circumstances. I am interested if there were extenuating circumstances there because a guy that is 17, apparently nearing 18, having sex with an older woman just isn't scandalous or interesting to me. I would say the same thing if the sexes were reversed. The spirit of the law matters more to me than the letter of the law....

As to those images, the first one is clearly ran through multiple imagine mounting software filters. The second one is a drawing.... don't get me wrong, Asia Argento is a piece of garbage, but that's not the same as stating that she did something wrong.

Case in point, judges do not obey the letter of the law but rather the spirit of the law. That's their job; To interpret law and apply it they see fit.

I'm not sure if that makes a difference specifically in the U.S., but generally speaking that has zero bearing on the argument in at least 3 nations that I am familiar with.

Unless there is evidence to indicate they were having sex during that time, it would not matter.

She even references that relationship in a tweet the night of the assault/rape, talking about how she's awaiting a reunion with her long lost son.

That's very disturbing and awkward.

I am uncertain what a judge in the U.S. would decide on this, but again, to me this is just not an issue.... and as I said before, it would not matter if the sexes were reversed....

Two 14 year olds are on the same level. A 14 year old and a 40 year old are not.

Ah, so you're one of those types. It doesn't matter if "they're on the same level". One can manipulate the other into sex and thus victimize the other, because the other is a vulnerable person.

The law isn't, or shouldn't, be concerned with the fact that the victimizER is young or old, but that the VICTIM is young, and thus incapable of making that good judgment.

As we can throw a 14 year old in prison for aggravated rape with a knife, we can clearly establish by this a precedent for convicting 14 year olds of rape. Since statutory rape is considered rape, then clearly they can be guilty of statutory rape, because it is rape sans violence, but taking advantage of the incapacity of the other 14 year old to say no or make good sex judgments.

One or the other 14 year old is getting what they want from the victim, sex. Just as a 40 year old would be getting that from the victim. The victim, being too young, cannot consent in an informed manner. And thus they are raped.

You argument toes the line of "appeal to nature" or "appeal to tradition".

Two 17 year olds aren’t getting arrested for having sex with each other.

of course not. That'd be silly. the inciter is getting arrested, though. Like in California. Two 17 year olds bumping uglies there is cause for an arrest to be made on ONE of them.
