Although it does not say so in the article, chances are pretty good that this will be used primarily (if not exclusively) to help women on the street.

I wonder what effective measures they'll implement this time. Like those spikes on the ground in wind-free areas... Those helped get rid of the scum.. err... homeless...

Canada vowed to end child poverty I think back in the 80's. It's 2018 and we still have it. It only works if you put the promise before tax cuts for the rich, and make it a top priority, which doesn't happen.

You can't end homelessness. You can, at best, provide some form of housing to all who request it, alongside having some robust mental health care systems and all that, but individuals will nonetheless slip through the cracks unless you have people literally patrolling the streets and interrogating anyone who looks suspiciously like a homeless person to make sure they aren't mentally ill and avoiding available help or some shit.

The UK already provides social housing, it's just that there is a waiting list. That can be dealt with (though not by the austerity obsessed Tories). But that social housing also has rules, and not everyone is going to adhere to them.

I'd be glad to see them do more, but this kind of target is one they're going to fail at.
