Hate is hate. Whether you hate one person or a group of people, there is just no point. You stare into the abyss of hatred long enough, eventually it'll stare back. Concepts like 'hatred' and 'evil' are human concepts that are purely based on perspective, they're not logical considering that a human is effectively a biological machine that is programmed based on it's circumstances we are a shade more complex than a chimp. Would you call a chimp evil for killing a rival chimp?

In reality there is no such thing as good or evil just actions that benefit humans and actions that do not. I don't see this woman as any more evil than a car that malfunctions and kills it's passengers, just more complex. Like machines some people can be fixed and fix them we should, because if you destroy a person what use are they to anyone?

But luckily the justice is loosely based on what is logically moral. Not on what misguided people think is just.

I couldn't disagree with you more. There is absolutely good and evil. Do you actually go outside and interact with people? There is absolutely evil people out there and she is one of them.

Don't be naïve. We are not a result of our programming and nothing else. We have something you seem to forget about.

Choice.

She CHOSE to act maliciously. She should have to suffer appropriately for the choice that SHE made, which lead to the suffering and death of someone who did not deserve it.

So stop being a naïve apologist.

Alternatively, there are people who can't be "fixed". Should we waste the effort on them? Hell no.

People like her could never give enough of a benefit to society to make up for her evil acts. She is a waste of resources. The investment would never be worth it.

Justice is based on an ideal, society is never ideal. This is why mitigating factors are considered and the law is not just black and white, as you would like it to be.

But hatred is hatred. Wanting to kill someone in order to enact revenge is hatred, especially if you hold no personal ties to the victim of the crime. Can't see it any other way.

You see this is a little known field of science called genetics. You're genetically 96% similar to a chimp, regardless of how complex you think you are (A chimp probably thinks it's very complex too) it doesn't change how complex you actually are. I'm not oversimplifying, genetics is a very complex field of study, and those are the results. We are 4% different compared to Chimps.

Then what are we? Because last time I checked I wasn't a cyborg and I can't use the force, so unless you have something the rest of us don't we're biological machines.

If you compare apples to apples you only get an apples's perspective, not an apple's perspective of an orange. The point was you wouldn't consider a chimp killing another chimp evil, it's nature. Likewise, this is nature the only reason you see it any differently is because you are human. No doubt the dead chimp's family would consider the other chimp evil. Good and evil isn't useful because it's a matter of perspective.

I interact with lots of people, and I evaluate their actions logically not by my arbitrary opinion of what is good and evil. All the concept of evil does is create bias. Take the case of sexual abusers. You may consider someone who perpetrates sexual abuse to be evil, but the fact is most sexual abusers were at one point themselves abused. These people aren't evil, they just had their minds warped into someone wrong.

How are we not? What else is there?

What is choice? In a limited system there are only a certain amount of things that can happen within said system. We can predict how things will act because we can understand the laws which govern them. How do you think we put a rocket into orbit? It's the same concept here, but instead of dealing with mathematical concepts (at least in the literal sense), we're dealing with messy biological organisms that act based on what kinds of proteins are floating around in their bloodstreams, neurons that have been shaped in specific patterns as a result of their experiences, etc, etc. There are only so many choices you can make within a given circumstances and you make a 'choice' based on several factors. If you understand the factors at play then you can predict what someone will do next.

Everything in this universe is probabilistic, including your decisions. That's just the way a closed system works. When you begin to understand that you and your decisions are simply part of that universe then you begin to understand that things like choice, good and evil are simply human efforts to anthropomorphise probability.

I'm sure if you were ever in a position like hers you'll hold the same view. A waste of resources. There are far greater wastes in human society like the amount of resources we spend criminalising people with minor drug offences. I suggest you look at those wastes before considering this one.
